Why should I?
There are lots of reason to collect Family Guy DVDS. Some reasons are

  • Uncensored and extended episodes
  • Special features like commentary tracks, deleted scenes, alternate scenes, interviews, art guides, etc.
  • Doesn't need a internet connection to watch and DVD players and drives are usually inexpensive.
  • Makes for a good collection to display on your shelf
  • DVDS are usually really cheap, easy to find, and fun to collect
  • The right to own your movie unlike streaming services where you don't own It and anything can be altered or deleted by the copyright holders at any time.

Note: For this guide, we will be focusing on region 1 DVDs (USA, Canada,) so If you don't have a region 1 DVD or a universal DVD player, you will have to do research on your own to collect the DVDs for your region or whatever one is your DVD player.

I am a very good expert on collecting Family Gay's dvds, don't believe me? Well you haven't seen my epic collection.

Where to buy?
You may be wondering "Well, how do I buy Family Guy DVDS" Well, It is pretty easy If you know where to look. The following places I have bought Family Guy dvds for my own collection is the following. These aren't restrictions on where YOU HAVE TO buy DVD sets of Family Guy at but these are just places I use. Also I have seen places like Wal-Mart sell Family Guy DVD's however they only really supply the more recent seasons and maybe a few of the Star War specials.

  • Amazon
  • Ebay
  • Garage/Yard sales
  • Flea markets and thrift stores

    Amazon

This was my first place where I bought some of my first Family Guy DVD sets at. This is a good choice If you want sealed, new sets of Family Guy DVDs. However, especially now, this can be a pretty expensive way considering each volume Is usually 20 dollars each (at least where I live). You can always buy used listings on Amazon too however.

    Ebay

This is also a good option If you want to buy Family Guy DVDS. I personally usually buy used items a lot myself cause It saves me lots of money and Ebay is good for that. However, since Ebay isn't as regulated as Amazon, you may need to be a bit more careful.

Also, since this is Ebay, some people may sell their DVDs more than their worth. To get the best deal, price match items listed on Ebay and compare prices on other sites, check seller reputations and inspect any images to see If they are In good condition. If there isn't much images to analyse, you can message the seller requesting more photos of the discs and stuff. Most sellers cooperate with this simple request at least from my experience.

(An example of a bad listing at least In my opinion. Don't send harassment to this seller however. We can see that they are selling a pretty common DVD that's in fair condition for nearly 50 dollars.)

(An example of what I consider to be a good listing. The DVD seems to be the same variant and Is sealed and Is only 5 buckaroos! If It weren't the fact that since I don't live in the US and therefore shipping is more expensive and the ongoing situation with tariffs, I would buy this one myself)

Also, you can participate in auctions as well. I have never really done auctions myself (prefer to buy It outright myself) but you can probably snipe some really good deals. Just make sure you know what the item Is worth (Don't wanna overpay for a item).

    Garage/yard sales, thrift stores, etc

Now this is the best choice for buying DVD's. Family Guy DVD's usually go for really cheap as the people running garage/yard sales and thrift stores don't really care about how much money they can sell the items for and only want them gone. Another benefit of this is that you can view the condition of the discs and box set in person so you can make sure the DVD's aren't more scratched than your day-one Xbox One that has been sitting next to the DVR. You also don't have to wait for days or even weeks to receive the item.

Also you don't have to worry about region locking as much as it is more likely the DVD is in your region as It's more of a local business from people from your area. So unless you are shopping at a weird yard sale hosted by a Japanese immigrant who has 3 DVD copies of the second season of Popee the Performer and a weird copy of Majoras Mask that also confidentially has Family Guy DVD'S, you should be fine,

The only downside Is that stuff like garage sales can be common as dirt or as rare of the chances of you finding a girlfriend depending on where you live. Also they are not guaranteed to have DVD's or Family Guy DVD's in general and for stuff like garage sales, the later you are, the more chances all the good stuff has already been bought out so go as early as possible.
Volumes
When it comes towards what seasons of Family Guy was released on DVD, it's complicated. At first, it was pretty easy with volume one having the first and second seasons and volume two having the third season. However after the third volume, probably due to Seth or some Fox higher up wanting enough money to buy their 5th luxury private jet of the week, seasons have been split, with some specials having there own DVD release. So, the third volume has the first 13 episodes of season 4, with the fourth volume having the rest 14 episodes of the same season. I won't discuss this for long, so I will leave the link so you can explore the unofficial Family Guy wiki volume guide, hosted on Fandom so It has a million ads.
