Text Formatting Tags (Color & Size)
由 Tig 和其他 1 人合作完成
This guide is an expansion on this russian guide, in English and to help educate my friends on D&DSS' currently available text modifier tags.

TLDR; use <color=x> and <size=x> anywhere to change text attributes.

Is this cheating?

People have been occasionally using these tags, and some may think that altered text chat is indicative of cheating/hacking. I've been kicked from public lobbies for this reason.

These tags are fully available in vanilla D&DSS and thus anyone can use them.

If this is an intended implementation by the developer is another question, but for now we have these fun tools available! (FlyingJakob pls don't remove <3)
Text Modifier Tags
Currently known text modifier tags:

CSS-style/HTML tags
<color={color}> ... </color> - font color <size={num}> ... </size> - font size <align={left|right|center|justify}> ... </align> - paragraph alignment <rotate={num}> ... </rotate> - rotate text by a number of degrees  ...  - superscript  ...  - subscript <space={num}> - add a specified number of white spaces <s> ... </s> - strikethrough <br> - line break <b> ... </b> - bold <u> ... </u> - underline <i> ... </i> - italics <link> ... </link> - would usually link to an external stylesheet, but has no effect in game

Escape characters
\r - carriage return, allows you to over-type previous characters \n - new line \t - tab \uHHHH - where HHHH is a hexadecimal number representing the Unicode code point of a character \v - vertical tab

If you find more, feel free to comment and I'll add them to this guide.

When used, the tags will apply to any text that comes after it, up to a certain rendering limit. If you spam the chat, it will eventually remove these tags from all messages, but everyone who chats will have their size or color changed. This is true for other text fields (explained later).

It's also important to note that when you finish a tag and the text disappears, it still counts towards character limits.

Color Tag
The currently known colors to replace the
{color}
parameter in
<color={color}>
are
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Purple
  • Green
  • White
  • Black
  • Any HEX Color code
    <color=#FFFFFF>
  • For example,
    <color=#BEBCB0>
    will make the text chat the same color as the background, making invisible chat!

Size Tag
The size tag seems to take any double precision floating point value that is comma separated, although anything larger than 0-1000 will most likely be too large to see, and completely wipe the visibility of chat. The value entered is directly related to the font size, by pixel height.

The default value of this also seems to be somewhere between size=20 and size=21, so it's recommended to use these values to reset the chat back to the original size.

Limits and Exploration

Negative values
You can also make text sizes negative!

Anything less than -20 will make the text upside-down. This also inverts the scrolling direction, so this one isn't too useful, but interesting nontheless! If you need to scroll up in chat to find something someone has said, you can use these large negative values.

Other values to remember

In emails, the largest size font that will show up in the subject line is
<size=39.3093>
Other Compatible Text Fields
As hinted in the previous section, you can use this text formatting in more than just the lobby text chat! You can use these in:
  • Emails

  • Sticky notes? Not quite.

    It doesn't work on the sticky note itself unfortunately.

  • Notepad. The largest usable font size I've found is ~25.

    The default seems to be around 10-15, maybe 13. Keep in mind that the text in the notepad application is different than what's printed.

  • Character Names. The size and colors should work everywhere! Very curious to see if more people adopt new colors in their name :D

    The last name also seems to inherit the first name tags since they're combined into your full name.

Examples
For the notepad example, this was done by typing:
<color=red><size=25>Don't be a hero, I have a bomb
into the notepad application.
Please don't use these to spam or abuse chat.
Of course it's up to a lobby host's discretion to allow this type of behaviour, but in order to reduce the stigma, and to have fun with randoms, please refrain from abusing these to be malicious. I'd rather not have the developer be forced to remove these, although I understand this guide may be the catalyst.
Please share your funny moments!
If you find this guide helpful, consider liking it, adding it to your favorites, and/or giving it awards!

If you have any funny moments that you get from this guide, feel free to message me them or post them here so I can feature them on this guide!

Thanks for reading!

Fun fact the sticky notes support a couple of emojis , for example "😂" maybe it's possible to use it elsewhere?

Don't even need to press enter. Once you paste/complete the tag, it'll disappear. Try it for yourself!

Is there other steps to do? Do I put the <color=#FFA500> in any text box? press enter then type?
