Ever felt like your submarine death spirals too quickly upon passing that hard boundary of Crush Depth? Maybe you got Latchered, or Dynamic Europa is being mean and hasn't given you a colony willing to sell you a deeper sub in the last 10 stops and you need to pass through some deeper channels. I'm not judging!

This adjusts the vanilla formula for crush depth sub damage, so instead of 30 seconds at 5m past the limit being a death spiral 5 crew repairing can't escape from, its more gradual and partially based on level difficulty. Midway through the campaign, equivalent damage would start at around 175m past the limit, thus making shallow and brief excursions an unwise but more plausible strategy.

Compatibility
This requires serverside Lua. Its probably compatible with all mods, as its mostly the same vanilla function with the numbers adjusted.

Love the idea for the mod, but I'm seeing the following error:

This took place while I was near but not at my sub's crush depth in singleplayer (~3250 current depth vs 3500 crush depth).

Any idea how to fix this?

Hi, I have a mod that for some reason changes the crush depth of speciffically humans not subs, is there a mod, or a way to change it to normal without deleting the mod? cos now without spawning a better diving suit the game is unplayable, but i want the achievements.:steamsad:

@|FNN|Grey Foxx I'm not sure how common it is in vanilla (outside of an Abyss Latcher dragging you down), but my campaign using Dynamic Europa (which changes which stations sell subs/etc) is currently midway through Biome 3 and I think our seed is rather unlucky, there's very few sub selling stations and we haven't yet found one willing to sell a Tier 3 sub.

@GAGO ^w^: I might make it configurable at some point. For now, forking the mod into LocalMods and tweaking the numbers (eg. setting MinWallDamageProbability up to 0.5 would be quite harsh, or setting MaxEffectThreshold to 50 would mean that the max damage would be done a mere 50m past the threshold, rather than my 1000m)

@Havel L. Krik I doubt it - the numbers I'm adjusting are not exposed to XML at all.

late game subs are like 20k each, plus the upgrade materials for hulls tend to be really expensive / a bit of a pain to get, so if your crew isnt... the best all of your money will get drained into medicine and supplies and all of that and you'll eventually hit a hard wall probably

I don't understand the need for this. I've not played much of the game (never gotten past the second gate) but I've never had problems getting the more expensive subs (orca, humpback, camel, etc). Are these not the subs you're talking about not being able to buy?) I usually start with barsuk and by the time I am through the first gate I'm in at least an orca. So is there more than what I'm seeing or what I know?
