General Information
Inventory
The Inventory Bar is a series of slots at the bottom of the screen which can be toggled on and off with the TAB key.
Only one slot is active (highlighted) at one time. Use either the mouse-wheel or number-keys to switch between active inventory slots. Parts can be placed inside storage bins with a left click. Items can also be placed with the right mouse button.
You must select an empty inventory slot to interact with anything else, such as the computer, workstations, or the door.

Decorative objects do not appear in an inventory slot when held, although they similarly prevent you from interacting with anything else. You must right-click the mouse to place decorative objects to free up your hands to interact with things. Empty boxes, wooden pallets, and many other objects scattered around the shop behave like decorative objects.

Once placed, you can hold the Alt key and click-and-hold to permanently sell most items. You can alternatively place items in a Trash Can to remove them without receiving a payment.

Receiving Packages and Shipping
Packages with the 1-2 business days (free) shipping are delivered at precisely 8:00AM, Monday through Friday. Such orders placed after 8:00AM on Friday will arrive on Monday. The more expensive shipping option is Today, which makes that package appear immediately for an extra fee.
Packages are only delivered on Saturday or Sunday if the Today (immediate) shipping option is chosen, which will also incur an additional charge for weekend delivery.
When you click on the doors at the top of the stairs, you advance game time to 8:00AM. Clicking on the doors also seems to generate new Contracts.
All items related to Contracts (sent by customers) use the 1-2 business days shipping.

The Phone
Press 'Q' to toggle the phone at any time. Because the phone screen is visible on top of computer screens and workstations, it is very useful to view instructions received in Contract Emails.
Also note that you can select and then copy details like passwords and IP addresses from emails, and then paste them directly into other in-game computers. Right-clicking selected text brings up a copy/paste menu, or you can use the classic Control-C (copy) and Control-V (paste) keyboard shortcuts.
Important: The Back button on the phone is the little angled-symbol in its bottom-left corner. The phone stays exactly as you last used it when put away and taken out again. You will need to use the back button frequently to move between emails and Apps.
Most passwords, login names, and IP addresses can be double-clicked to be quickly selected for copying.

Completing Contracts
When you Complete any contract, beware of any pop-up! Such a pop-up means you made a mistake and will Receive a Bad Review if you Complete the Contract at that point. Choosing to Cancel and go back to correct your mistake will prevent those consequences.
If the contract completes instantly and with No pop-up, everything was perfect and the review will be five stars.

Parts Storage
There are shelves to the right of the workstations which have a total of six parts bins on them. I think this is a perfect place to store resistors so that I do not need to wait around for store order to arrive every single time I repair something. There are more parts bins in other parts of the workstation room which I use for capacitors and diodes. Two of those bins are only accessible from inside the solder workstation. Do not be afraid to make up your own storage system; any system is good if it works for you.

Soldering Bench Consumables
Unless disabled in the Settings, the solder workstation will run out of alcohol, solder, and multimeter battery when used, or if the devices are left on for a long time. Spare supplies can be ordered from the Store. I keep some spare alcohol, solder, and batteries on the small shelf under my resistor bins.

Marketplace
The Store has a 'marketplace' where you can buy broken circuit boards to repair and sell. They can be sold for a profit after repair by holding Alt and LMB. They are also required for one of the achievements. The Marketplace page has details about how to 'refresh' their stock more often than will automatically occur.

Main Page Sales
Every day, the Main Page of the Store has three items on sale. While such a discount may not be thrilling for ten-cent resistors, it will occasionally feature server components.
Courses and Contracts
Solder
If you set up the testing device to the correct Voltage and Amperage and connect it to the Circuit Board before starting repairs, the Diode will turn green the moment you replace the broken part. I enjoy those moments of closure. But also remember to solder the new part.
Multimeter Basics
Use 20k (20,000) Ohms Resistance range for basic "Solder" problems. The mouse-over information for each resistor shows its correct readings.
When clicking the meter's setting dial clockwise, 20k is the third range setting in the Resistance Section of the settings dial. (Resistance is the lower-left area marked with the Greek Omega symbol.) Note that you can also Shift-Click to turn the dial counter-clockwise if you turned it too far clockwise.
20k Ohms will allow you to test all the standard Resistors, which are the black rectangular components. You can ignore capacitors and diodes until you unlock them through another Course.
Technical Note: The two types of capacitors rated at 2k will show up as smaller numbers, such as that the 821 resistor will test as 0.844 instead of the 8.44 as it shows at 2k setting. Nothing will melt or explode and you will be able to accurately determine whether every resistor is malfunctioning without changing the setting for every single component.

THT Champ
The THT components all use the same 500 Ohm resistor that looks like a sausage with stripes on it. For these resistors, either use 200 Ohms resistance, which is the lowest, most-counterclockwise resistance setting, or the 2K Ohms setting which will show accurate but smaller numbers like 0.500 instead of 500.0

Solder+
The Solder+ Course adds two types of components.
Diodes
There is only one Diode setting, and working diodes all seem to test between 1.0 and 1.8. Note that the diode which the testing device makes glow red or green when attached appears to function perfectly even if it is the defective part.
Capacitors
Capacitors must be un-soldered to be measured, and you will need to use several different settings to measure capacitors. I start by testing the 100uF capacitors because they are visibly smaller than the other capacitors.
The specific information about which ranges to use on which capacitors can be found on the Diagram in the lower-right corner of the Solder workstation. Holding Shift is a keyboard shortcut to view the Diagram.

Active Directory
In Active Directory Contracts, all Modify Employee instruction state whether the User Type is User or Admin, and whether the Limited Permissions and Change Password At Next Login check-boxes should be checked or unchecked.
These instructions are not always asking for a change to be performed. These items often start and also remain the exact way specified in the email. This may be confusing at first, so I have warned you.
Active Directory Groups are spelling specific. Once you type their precise name and hit Enter, the group will spawn a set of check-boxes particular to that group. Certain groups have the word 'group' in their name while others do not.
Active Directory Devices have not been implemented yet.

IP Master
These Contracts require you to open the Remote Desktop App and copy/paste the customer's IP address and password to access their computer. Then you must configure their network with the Network Management App on their computer's Desktop.
While manually setting static IP addresses for every single device on their network works, there is currently no disadvantage to using the automatic configuration protocol, DHCP.

First, make sure the top-most device, the Router, has its DHCP checkbox Enabled (checked).
Next, click on each other device which does not have both of its lights showing green and set the following:
  • Port enabled checkbox checked.
  • Duplex either Auto of Full Duplex.
  • IP Address set to DHCP.
I have yet to find a problem with Bandwidth, but feel free to set it to Auto if you like.

Programming
Programming Contracts require you to assemble modular components exactly as instructed in the Email. Mostly this involves precisely matching email words to component names and their settings.
A client sometimes uses to a specific word which must be copied into a component's text field. Alternatively one or more items might be checked within a component's pick-list, for example the specific Devices within the Smart Device handling component or multiple items in a Find component.
The SQL Database component always requires you to copy/paste an IP address and password from the Email.

System Installation
These Contracts require you to buy a particular License through the store, which must be delivered in a package and then will then appear on your phone's home screen after the package is opened.
You must also have a pen drive (flash drive) written with the PC to install the particular Operating System and Drive Format requested in the email.
After being set for the correct system and drive format, the pen drive is inserted into the customer's laptop to install the operating system. This process requires using specific information from the Contract Email.
Remember to refer to your phone's home screen for the License Key. Pay close attention to the Operating System icon and its tiny version-specific hat when dealing with multiple license keys.
Also turn on the CAPS LOCK of your keyboard to make your entry ALL CAPITAL LETTERS just like the key is shown on your phone. And lastly, remember that the "zero" (0) character is skinnier than the rounder-looking "capital o" (O) character in those keys.

BIOS Expert
These Contracts require you to update drivers and fix problems on laptops using both the BIOS and the Settings App on the laptop's Desktop. The course also gives a phone App to decode cryptic Blue Screen of Death messages, which provides easy-to-follow instructions. Use the Settings App on their Desktop to change the Version of their Operating system. (And see System Installation, above, re: Licenses and Keys.)

Terminal
The Terminal is surprisingly easy to use because one creates commands by clicking on a series of buttons at the bottom of the screen. Thus, deleting files, recovering lost data, and configuring servers all require no typing. The server configuration task requires copying and pasting an IP addresses and password into a pop-up window.
The Terminal contracts require you to Visit (travel to) the client's location using a button on the Contracts App. These contracts are Completed by choosing the Complete and Return option from the Door used to exit the client's location.

Server Hero
This Course allows you to work on Servers, which are locked cabinets containing racks for modular large-format computer components. The Server Hero Contracts involve diagnosing and replacing broken components, which necessitates one trip to find out what broke, returning to the shop to buy replacement parts, and a second trip to replace those parts. *Except the first Contract which has a separate room containing many spare components.
Taking the Server Hero course also unlocks the ability to build your own server with those components. You server room is to the right of the computer, and its door is unlocked using a key found on a shelf to the right of the workstations.
You can install various services on your server to attract customers who pay you a fee. These customers and services use up your server disk space and processing power, requiring you to install more components and then more server racks. Power use and heat requirements must also be managed with additional components.
Tutorial Walkthrough
Tutorial Tutorial
Every tutorial page says "hold down E to continue" at the bottom. You do not actually need to do this, because the pages will advance after a delay or when you do what they tell you to do. Holding down E will close the current tutorial page if it is lingering past your liking.

The First Day
The tutorial starts off with moving the character. (WASD to move, mouse to aim, and 'E' or left mouse button to interact.)
You will be directed to interact with the computer.
STAY CALM! It is only a simulated Cyber Attack. Your actual real-life computer has not been Hacked. Do NOT flee into the wilderness. Well, not until after you 'like' this guide.
The tutorial will guide you to check your in-game email. You can then click on the "X" in the top-right corner of your screen to exit to the Desktop screen and continue the tutorial.

Go shopping as directed. Use the Configurator to add the only available items, helpfully highlighted in green, to the the "Cart."
To view The Cart, click on the button in the top-right area of the screen, which has a little Shopping Cart and the total amount due printed on it. Then click the Checkout button and click through another confirmation pop-up regarding Shipping.

The tutorial instructs you to end the day by walking up the stairs and clicking on the doors. Ending The Day fast-forwards the in-game time to the next morning so that your shopping order will arrive.

The Second Day
Click-and-hold on the newly arrived box at the bottom of the stairs to open it. It's the stuff you ordered! Click OK to continue.
The Workstation for building PCs is through the door to the left of the computer. Use the mouse-wheel or number-keys to select the Motherboard and click on the workstation to place it. Then click on the workstation itself with an empty inventory slot to enter into the PC Assembly workstation. There will be two tutorial messages before you can proceed.
Click the lever to unlock it, and then click to open the CPU cradle. Then add the CPU and close the cradle and then lock the lever. Then unlock and add the RAM.
Now exit the workstation (Esc key). Finally, hold the Alt key while holding the left mouse button on the completed PC to Sell it.

Head back to the Table (in the other room, with the PC) and get The Phone from a box which has appeared there. Pressing 'Q' toggles the phone at any time during the game.
Important: The phone's Back button is the little angle-symbol in its bottom-left corner. You will need to use that back button to navigate to other Apps and between emails on the phone.
Open the Contracts App and Take the available job.

Now get on the PC and click on Active Server. Accepted jobs will show up inside Active Server automatically. Click the current job's company logo to automatically log in now.
This would be a good time to bring up the phone and look at your Contract's Email.

The contract has two parts: Deleting one employee and modifying another. The deleting part is easy because only one employee has an active Delete button.
Now, to Modify the other employee. You can select the password on your phone, and copy it with Control-C or right-click and choose Copy. Then select the employee's "Incorrect Password" and paste with Control-V or a Right-Click and then Paste.
Don't forget to check the email about which of the check-boxes to check for this employee.

Then Complete the contract either on the phone or computer Desktop. Beware of any pop-up! The pop-up means you made a mistake and will Receive a Bad Review if you Complete it at that point. You can instead Cancel and go back to correct your mistake!
If it completed with No pop-up, everything was perfect and the customer is happy.

The tutorial will prompt you to click on the doors at the top of the stairs to advance time to the next morning.

The Third Day
Go to the computer and open the Courses App. Take the first class, Soldering, for free.
These classes happen in a virtual reality training environment where you will not need to buy equipment or supplies, nor will you be able to keep them.
Pick up the circuit board board from the supply table on your right. Place it on the Soldering Workstation and enter the workstation. Unscrew and remove the device's cover. Clean the board with alcohol wipes.

Set The Multimeter to 20K Ohms Resistance.
When clicking the settings dial around clockwise, 20k is the third range setting in the Resistance Section. (Resistance is the lower-left area marked with the Greek Omega symbol.) Note that you can Shift-Click to turn the dial counter-clockwise if you turned it too far clockwise.

20k will allow you to test all the standard Resistors, which are the black rectangular components, without checking and changing the setting for every single component.
For now, ignore capacitors and diodes until you unlock them through another Course.

The tutorial will progress when you find the broken resistor. Turn on the soldering iron and press the 300 button to set it to that temperature. When it reaches 300, un-solder both contact points of the broken resistor by holding LMB until the gauge reaches the green section.

Exit the workstation to grab a replacement resistor from the funny little bin on the supply table.

Go back into the workstation and click the empty space where you removed the dead part to place the new resistor, then solder it at both ends.
Hold Shift to see circuit diagram. At its bottom are the proper ranges for the testing device. 12V and 2A are nice round numbers right in the diagram's testing ranges.
While there are four adjustment knobs, I only ever use the top knobs which move the settings in conveniently large half-unit leaps.
Once the tester is set properly, click its plastic connector to connect it to the circuit board. Behold the happy green light emitting diode on the board!

Re-assemble the case and tighten the screws and then exit the workstation. Pick up the device by right-clicking it into an empty inventory slot. Find the orange-and-blue shipping shelf and place the finished device onto it to complete the Solder Course.

Next you must Complete Two contracts, which are both circuit board repair contracts. Accept both contracts at once. They will arrive tomorrow and then you will need to do exactly what you did in the Course.

I recommend buying 8 of each Resistor now, so you will have parts for many future repairs. Go into the Shop App and place an order now with the free shipping option, so it will arrive tomorrow morning along with the broken boards.
Then click the doors to advance to tomorrow morning.

The Fourth Day
Open the boxes at the bottom of the stairs, which will be two broken circuit boards and a bunch of resistors. Select empty inventory slots as necessary.
The solder workstation is located next to the PC workstation in the other room.

Place one of the broken things on the solder workstation, and use that empty hand to interact with the workstation. One of the boards has a case with screws, which I will assume you can handle on your own here.

Clean the board with alcohol then turn on the multimeter and set it to 20K Ohms.
Find the bad part, unsolder and replace it (you should still have many Resistors in inventory) and solder it.
Hold shift to see the diagram about how to set the testing device, and test the board.

Place the finished product on the orange and blue shelf.
Then open your phone to the Contracts App and note that one can be Sent (completed). Remember that a warning pop-up allows you to correct mistakes, and instant completion means that it was perfect.

After finishing both contacts, the tutorial will show you the Decoration Mode (Press 'T') and then the various screens of the Bank App.
