This is not the same as the PlayStation controller.

Today’s player guide will walk you through applying and using the Xbox or PlayStation configuration for Exfil. These configurations utilize action sets that can be created within the Steam overlay inside the game application. Three action sets have been laid out based on the player's main actions during gameplay: combat, utility, and spectator. An action set allows a player to create multiple layers of controls that can be activated or switched through by a simple button press. To begin, we must apply the configurations to the controller. We have two options for this: We can use the Steam Overlay within the Exfil application or do it under the “Library” section inside the Steam application.

Before we begin, let’s get through a few disclaimers from playing on a controller inside Exfil.

• Players can not navigate through any UI menus while using a controller. This includes the main menu, setting menu, server browsing menu, game lobbies, mission briefing screens, and spectator menus. To navigate through these menus, players must use their mouse.
  
• Players can not make Exfil display either Xbox or PlayStation command keys. For example, when you face a closed door. The game will prompt, “Use Door (F).” It will not display “Use door (X).” Even when using the DS64 Program.
  
• The default key bind to open the Steam overlay is “Shift + Tab.” This can result in the Steam overlay opening when players try to open the Tac Map while running. The Steam overlay opens because the Left Joystick is set to “Shift,” and the Tac Map is set to “Tab.” If players find this annoying, changing the Steam overlay key bind to another set of commands is suggested.

To begin, we must apply the configurations to the controller. We can use the Steam Overlay within the Exfil application.
Let’s start with the Steam Overlay within the Exfil application:
1. Open the Exfil Application.
2. Access the Steam Overlay. The default key bind is “Shift + Tab”
3. Select the “Controller Settings”
4. Make sure you have either an Xbox or PlayStation controller plugged in.
5. Select the gray box under “Current Button Lay.” It will show information based on the current template you have active. As a result, the information will differ from what is displayed in the picture.
6. Select the “Community Layouts” tab at the top of the menu.
7. Select the “Show All Layouts” at the bottom of the menu.
8. Select the appropriate layout configuration. For example, we will use the PlayStation configuration.
9. Select the “Apply Layout” option at the bottom of the menu. Select the “Apply Layout” option at the bottom of the menu.
10. Exit the Steam overlay.
11. Now you’re all set. Go out there and have fun!

Let’s go through the second option, using the “Libary” section through the Steam application:
1. Open the Steam Application.
2. Select the "Library" option on the top left of the screen.
3. Select the Exfil Application.

4. Make sure you have either an Xbox or PlayStation controller plugged in. To gain access to the controller icon.
5. Select the controller icon on the right side of the screen.
6. Select the gray box under “Current Button Lay.” It will show information based on the current template you have active, which may differ from what is displayed in the picture.
7. Select the “Community Layouts” tab at the top of the menu.
8. Select the “Show All Layouts” at the bottom of the menu.

9. Select the appropriate layout configuration. For example, we will use the PlayStation configuration.
10. Select the “Apply Layout” option at the bottom of the menu.
11. Select the “Back” option at the bottom of the menu.12. Now you're all set! Launch the game and have fun!
