BT-7

The BT-7 was a Soviet cavalry tank, part of the BT series (Bystrokhodny Tank, meaning "fast tank"), and it played a significant role in the early stages of World War II. The BT-7 was the final and most advanced version of the BT series, which had been designed for speed and mobility, largely influenced by the American engineer J. Walter Christie's tank designs.

Development: Introduced in 1935, the BT-7 was an improvement over its predecessors, the BT-2 and BT-5, with a more powerful engine, slightly thicker armor, and improved suspension. It retained the BT series’ distinctive Christie suspension, which allowed for high speeds on both tracked and wheeled modes (though the wheeled mode was rarely used in practice). The tank was armed with a 45mm 20K gun, which was relatively effective against early enemy armor, and a 7.62mm machine gun.
