If, as I did you, you bought this game simply assuming that a modern console port third person action game from a big studio like Ubisoft would have controller support as standard. You may have noticed by now it doesn't according to the store page or the games launch screen. Luckily I think this is a mistake as the game clearly does have controller support.

Several guides here show people how to disable Steam controller support and use native x-input with a x-box controller but that won't help if you have a d-input controller like the Switch Pro.

As I said though, pretty sure the no controller support mistake on the Steam store page simply makes the default controller template WSAD and mouse emulation. Which you definitely don't want to use for several reasons foremost of which is the controller prompts will show as keyboard controls. I'll show you how to correct it easily.

Just make sure your controller is plugged in/connected and then from the games launch screen press on the little controller icon on the right of the screen (directly across from the play button). Make sure Steam controller support is enabled (should be by default) and click change template. PIck gamepad instead of WSAD and Mouse and then press apply.

That's it. All in-game prompts will show controller buttons now too. Pretty sure this should work for PS5 controllers too although prompts will probably show as A,B,Y,X but you must be used to that by now. If someone can confirm, I'll update the title.
