TL;DR - Pilgrimage 2007 is a modification of the excellent Pilgrimage scenario by Rydygier that places it into an alternate universe version of Altis set in 2007 using the also excellent Phalanx Downfall by Anthrax

The year is 2007. In the 8 years since the coup detat by Col. Akhanteros on the islands of Altis and Stratis, the situation has rapidly changed. Shunned in large by the western world due to his denouncement of what he viewed as “American Hegemony”, The Altian republic was forced to look eastward for political and military support, turning itself into one of the few client states of the Russian Federation, and a vital part of her strategy for maintaing a presence in the mediteranian region by hosting Russian ships, Holding exercises with Russian forces, and allowing Russia to maintain anti-ship and anti-air missile batteries (although under the cover of them nominally being operated by Altian Army personnel) on the island.

However, Col. Akhanteros’ vocal criticism of the Afghanistan and later Iraqi and Takistani wars, alongside unconfirmed reports from the CIA of Altian weapons making their way into Insurgent hands earned him a spot on George W Bush’s vaunted “Axis of Evil”, which inflamed the Russian Federation and deeply damaged US-Russian relations.

On January 5th, 2007, during an extremely strong storm, the destroyer USS Halsey reported suffering a catastrophic breach in her hull, causing the ship to quickly sink, with only 25 of her crew surviving the incident.

The Bush administration quickly blamed the Altian Armed Forces for the sinking, claiming that a Russian-made anti-ship missile had struck the ship. Quickly, authorization for reprisals was pushed through congress and the house of representatives and an invasion force was quickly (and many argue improperly) assembled and launched.

American forces instantly ran into problems. The biggest and most immediate one was the Russian Federation. American planners had built the entire plan under the assumption that the Russian Federation would stand down, however, their assumptions were proven wrong when their ships suddenly found themselves under fire from the Russian-operated ASM batteries, while initial sorties of aircraft and helicopters suffered heavy losses from AAF owned (but Russian operated) S-300M Batteries. When they were questioned, the Russian Federation claimed that “Rogue Elements of the Altian Armed Forces” had stormed the command centers and taken over the sites

Regrouping their forces, the Americans launched a two week long air campaign targeting long range missiles and other such assets, and were finally able to secure a beachhead. However, as they advanced further, they found themselves not only fighting the well prepared AAF, but also Russian “mercenaries” equipped with MBTs, IFVs, and even aircraft operating out of bases in Libya and Syria (bases that the Russian Federation made very clear that if targeted, would bring the “actual” full military might of the Russian Federation into play).

In enters you. A man whose goal is to find the body of his dead brother on Altis, lying dead in one of the ~230 religious buildings on the island. That won’t be easy. The entire island is in a state of war, with well trained and equipped American forces supported by a motley crew of nations forced by hook or by crook to join in facing off against the Altian Armed Forces, Altian Police, and Akhanterites, alongside the combined forces of the “mercenaries” provided by the Russian Federation, a similarly motley crew of nations under Russia’s influence and those who simply have a bone to pick with the Americans and see this as a perfect opportunity to bog her down. There are no stable front-lines, BLUFOR and OPFOR forces are intermingled, each trying to outmaneuver the other with small groups of soldiers. All of whom are quite happy to shoot first and ask questions later.

Bugs: Due to the nature of Pilgrimage as a very drawn out and procedural mission, being able to conduct bug testing has been an area of difficulty. The only bug I am currently aware of is that sometimes a group or two of 2035 units might slip through the cracks of the blocklist. Aside from that, you guys are my eyes and ears, please let me know of any bugs you find!

Hi. There is a problem with save game, crash of Arma. Yesterday worked fine. Can you, deer Author, look at it, is there any problem like this with this scenario ?

The mission author Rydygier has just made a post on the BI Forum topic - Pilgrimage Ported. It spells out what needs to be done to fix the reputation system and hostile companions.

I also notice that the 'Companion" is same map color as the enemy. I see why they kill each other now. I find I can use the 'U' function if we're out of sight of one another but not always convenient to do under certain situations.

If you use the Companion-On feature in the menu and then switch via the 'U' function, the other player immediately kills you. I guess the only work-around is to not use the feature.

@3000 Super Tucanos of Marcos. I want to be clear where credits are given. All coding was done by Rydygier. I may have copy/pasted replacement items/factions/vehicles etc but only from his original work.

The main features I'm still working on are adding environmental details. For instance, Altis International now actually looks a giant battle has taken place there, with wrecked planes sitting in destroyed hangers while the Runway itself has been cratered to hell (turns out using SOG is finally paying off thanks to those massive crater props of theirs). I'd also like to add some of those ASM and AAM sites described in the plot ramble.

I haven't added new airfields or strongholds, merely increased the number of airfields that the game will select (IIRC the game chose 2 airfields before, I changed it to four airfields).

the use of factions is actually kind of interesting from a design sense. While I could have disabled Vietnam army soldiers from spawning, in the end I kept them in to simulate the motley crew of nations the US had assembled that were stuck with old US hand-me-downs (plus, if I was going to require the use of SOG, I'd want to make sure you get to actually use it's content in the mission!). I do plan on disabling PAVN spawns in the update i'm working on, but that's slow going due to features i'm putting in.
