I’m playing relaxed (no blitzing). But I still advise do the salt flats early. The reward boosts your ability to do everything else
Things I wish I’d spotted earlier
-Middle-mouse wheel scrolling through items
-The 'o' key organises inventory
-Water levels take time to stabilise when you improve springs. Better to improve, come back later, and see how the water flow is looking
-Plants can drown. I lost a few early on with rising water
-The earth around noxious springs is wet. You can grow plants there, handy early on when any wet ground is scarce
-Almost everything can be changed later, it is a very forgiving game. No need to over-think at first
-Permanent structures (eg ruined homesteads) protect from environmental effects. On a map with a suitable location nearby I would definitely make that my storage base
-There's an item to help with climbing. You can use it *at any point during a climb*
-You can eat/drink midway through some forms of movement (eg climbing)
