When starting up a new game, you can choose what town to begin the game in, how many Rival Family's there are and create a new character from scratch, customizing name, Family Crest, gender, class, zodiac sign, religion, appearance, and voice.


Character Creation

Although most of these options are cosmetic, zodiac sign and religion have some minor effects in game (generally small stat bonuses), and the character's class determines which professions are available. There are four character classes in the Guild 2:

The Craftsman
Favored Attributes: Constitution, Dexterity, Handycrafts, Bargaining
Craftsmen can create products for use by the town citizens. They can collect raw materials (e.g. ore, wood, or animal hides), and combine and process those materials into usable products (e.g. metal crafts, wood crafts, or clothing).

The Patron Favored Attributes: Constitution, Empathy, Bargaining
Patrons are responsible for providing food and drink to the citizens. They can operate farms to harvest plants or animal products, use those materials to produce consumables (e.g. meats, baked goods, and beer), and can serve those items to people at an inn or public house.

The Scholar Favored Attributes: Charisma, Rhetoric, Arcane Knowledge
Scholars are more concerned with knowledge, and can produce a number of specialized items (e.g. gold through alchemy, poison, and poetry), If you take the Mage rout you can perform "summonings" in the basement of your lvl 2 or 3 building (you need a high Arcane knowledge for it to be successful) and if you take the Holy rout you can operate churches and give sermons to the citizens.

The Rouge Favored Attributes: Constitution, *Stealth*, Martial Arts, Empathy
Rogues are the criminal element in the Guild 2, and operate differently from the other classes. Instead of gathering or processing materials, or providing services for the citizens, rogues make money by stealing, either by scouting and burglarizing buildings as a thief, or waylaying shipments as a robber. Rogues can also pickpocket citizens, and tend to be combat-focused characters.

[Note] if your in the business of making ANYTHING be sure to invest in at least 4 or 5 points into Handycrafts. If YOU are assisting in making a product like a sword or Loaf of bread it'll make the process a bit quicker.

This is your life, or how long you will live, How much HP you have and it effects how many inventory slots you will have.

Dexterity
This is how fast you can move in the world, the odds of dodging a blade in battle, how much you Receive when pickpocketing, Buglarys, odds of dodging a bullet in duels.

Gameplay
The main interface for the Guild 2 is a dynamic 3-D city, in which You have free camera control. Many of the actions in the game can be initiated by selecting your character within the game world and selecting actions from menus. There are also a number of menu shortcuts that allow you to avoid hunting around the map for characters and locations.

Through the course of the game, You can take control of up to three characters at a time (all within the same family as the original character). All non-player characters live their own virtual lives and are constantly walking around the city and conducting their own business. Player characters can be ordered to walk around the map and interact with NPCs. The city map goes through a complete day-night cycle, but each "day" in the game makes the time go 4 years. (which is kind of lame IMO :/ ) Their are a few mods for this game i hear. Like one that makes it so that when a year passes, ONE YEAR PASSES not 4.

Titles
Your character(s) may go to the town hall of the town that you start in and purchase new titles, which confer different benefits. The title progression is linear, beginning with "Commoner" and proceeding through "Citizen," "Patrician," and then to titles of nobility such as "Baron."

With the titles come privileges that may allow you to perform political acts like applying for public office and owning more businesses. A higher title also allows characters to improve and upgrade their homes.

Politics
Along with their purchased titles, you may also run for public office by visiting the town hall and choosing the office you wish your character to run for. The offices include positions such as "bishop" and "executioner," as well as more powerful positions such as "Marshal," who may control the guards in a city, to "King," who will make whatever decisions they wish.

New positions in government are created in new cities as they grow. Cities grow from villages to "Imperial Capitals" as they gain more population.

Dynasty
you begin the game with one dynasty (Family) member, and may court a member of the opposite sex. (so no Girl on Girl Action to be had hear sadly :( ) This can lead to marriage, which will allow you and your sweetums to get Hiched and then you can perform the "Horozontal mambo" and produce children who will carry on the dynasty after your original dude Takes a dirt nap either by natural causes or by the point of a dagger. Only three members of the dynasty can be under your direct control at any given time. Dynasty members that are not under your control wander around the game world getting mugged by thieves and so forth.

Children of the dynasty can be sent to school at age 3, to an apprenticeship at around age 10, and can finally become fully controllable to you at age 16, provided they are added to your group. At this point, they may be assigned as owners of their own home in the city of your choosing.

A dynasty is ended by its last member's death.

Real-time economics
The economic simulation of the game is based on the laws of supply and demand. In the city markets, if a given good is low in quantity in the market that will cause the value of that particular good to rise. Selling a great deal of a single good at the market will conversely decrease the value of the good.

Since the manufacturing businesses require raw materials to function, you may find yourself relying on the city's open market for raw materials. In order to avoid this kind of situation, you may choose to marry your character to a spouse that has a complementary profession. For example, a Crafts(wo)man with a Weaving Mill may decide to marry a Patron that has a sheep farm. Since the dynasty now contains both a Crafts(wo)man and a Patron, the player may build their own farms to raise sheep, whose wool may then be sent to the Weaving Mill to be turned into cloth.

Now that you have made your Character its time to get to business, I'll be using the Patron for this example.


Okay first off difficulty effects the AI's aggressive tendencies and the amount of cash you get at the start of the game.

You start off with 10000 gold (on easy) 2500 (on Hard)
... Or if you decide to "Give yourself" 20 million :/ using ini editing "



I've taken the liberty of buying this hear farm to supply the town with wheat and sugar beats. And its a good idea to buy the near by farm plots as well can't have a farm without farm plots. :l
(if no pre-built plots exist near by theirs an option to build farm plots and Corrals in your Characters build menu) and the Corrals can hold Cows or sheep's for beef, Fat and leather from Cows and Wool from sheep. as well as the whole animal themselves for 350 flat rate so its good to save a few cows or sheep if your short on cash.

Note: Its best to just have ONE wheat field ONE beet field and only TWO corrals for both Cows and sheep. Any more then that and you'll just be "throwing money into the lake". If you set two people to work the wheat fields they will both only work the first one and the second field will never get worked. Its dumb, i know but there ya go :/

Send your guy and your first employee to begin seeding the wheat and beats. (select yourself or your Employee and right click the plot and a small window will appear with wheat or sugar beat options for planting) They will grow in just a few seconds. Then click on your main farm building and click on upgrade building.



If you have the cash buy a few upgrades for your business's (and Home!). They will mostly make it so it'll be harder (as in it'll take them longer to get in) for Thieves to steal your hard earned money ( and maybe goods on occasion ) or make it so you can store more goods in your business and give you more options for making things or add more space for Employees.

Side note
And before i forget BUY A WEAPON!! You do NOT want to get caught in a sword/knife fight with your fists. You can get one in the market in the center of the town your're in. or if your a Craftsman Make one yourself. (with the Foundry-lvl 1 smithy building)

So once the wheat and Beats start to grow your ready to go click on your building and find the 'Other' Hammer icon in the action bar at the bottom of the screen. With this you can assigns employees (or yourself if you want) to specific jobs.



And if possible hire 1 or 2 more employees, that is if you upgraded your business with room to store more employees. Just click on your Business and you should see an option in the action bar. The icon looks like a man standing next to a pile of gold. Click on that.




(Now I'm not sure if this even matters but when selecting a new employee you can see what Class they are ie. Scholar, Craftsman, Rouge. I would hire appropriate employees for your businesses like Scholars for Mages Guild, Patrons for Pub running and Farming, Rouges for general Basterdly deeds.)


So, with your new employee's fresh from the wrapper, send them to occupy the Wheat or Beat field and the other to start producing sheep or Cattle. just like the farm plot right click to pick the animal you want to raise. (cows are an upgrade for your building, its in the menu) fill the Corral with the animal of your choice.



Hear we see the humble farmer planting the "sheep seeds" soon they will grow into full grown sheep.

Bam


So, now we just have to wait a minute or two for the barn to fill with produce. And once at least 20 of one resource has been reached place it in the cart and once both slots are filled send the cart off to the Market in town. It doesn't matter which tent you park your cart near just select the tent and select the tab that you are selling to (this would be Resources) and double click both the resources in your cart it'll add them to a "resource pool" and click on the area were all the shops goods are and you will be able to sell all of the stuff in your cart in one fell swoop.

Side note
When you have the cash buy a new cart (an Oxe cart to be exact) the horse drawn cart is a bit more expensive (maybe its a tad faster then an oxe idk) and it doesn't increase the carry cap it stays at 3 just like the oxe cart. so i would just get the oxe its like 8-900g for one. And once that's done sell that POS other smaller cart for a few extra bucks ( or keep it, its up to you). To do this just find the cart icon with the + by clicking on your business. Oh and to sell a cart the button next to the buy cart button is a bag of coin click on the cart you want to sell and then click on the bag icon ( or Vise versa) and Clink you will get a few bucks for it :D
Edit: Oh and Hire some body guards for your new cart/s just click on the crossed axes button right to the left of your selected cart.

In the game I'm using to make this guide, there is a Bandit Camp not to far away from my farm.
Edit: There is always a bandit camp there on this map apparently, controlled by a family or not.



These Slimly Blue Bastards are bandits and they are also a rival Family. Bandits of any color will hide themselves in the bushes and ambush passing Carts (without Fail) if this happens to you some the stuff in the cart is lost, if not all. Hears a tip: If there happens to be another business near by sending carts to and fro. Wait for that cart to be ambushed by bandits THEN send your cart though. The bandits will be to busy hauling that other carts goods to their base to bother robbing you (until they reset anyways) (or if there's more then 2 there) they're units will disappear when they 'Waylay' (that means hide in da bushes)



These guys are the Thieves and yet another rival family, they hang around inside the walls. They go around doing B&E's cutpurseing and robbing and murder yah know "the Business" these guy can and will rob your house or business directly. So be sure to hire Henchmen to protect your property. You can do this by selecting the hire employee's option at your house (if you have a spot available) so again when you can Upgrade your house, do so, you can then hire Bodyguards, spy on your neighbor, bomb! Rival business's he he >:) that ones fun and devastating if you unlock the fire bomb >:D MWA HA HA HA!
And I'm sure i don't need to tell you what THAT does Meh he he >:)

Look at that, after a few loads of goods you now have a small fortune! Now is the time to think of maybe Buying a new business.
But because of your rank of Commoner you can only have one Business. So allz ya gotta do is go get a better title.



This is the town hall. this is were court hearings and votes take place. And this is where you get new titles.



Just go inside and Click on the Crown icon and your guy or Gal will go talk to this man...



Tip
-----------------------------------------------
If you don't want to waist Valuable time listening to the guy blabber on about his Paper work, before your guy talks to the man click the leave building button, or if you do start talking to him That little easy to NOT notice X button on the top right hand corner of the screen. These will make your camera leave the building but you (Your character) won't so you can worry about more important things like, idk your Business's, all while Bandits and thieves are roaming about.

After a few seconds you will receive a message and the narrator will say "You have been spoken to" or something within those lines. Just click on the message area on the middle left side of the screen. You should see small icons. These are messages about what's going on in town and the like.
Okay, so you received a message, you clicked "But of course"-(saying it like the Spy would) now you just wait a second for the crown symbol to disappear from your characters big pic (if you still have him selected) now just go back to the town Market or somewhere near by and look around for businesses that are for sale. Since you are a patron you're gonna wanna get a Bakery or maybe even a public house (the pub/Inn). But Hold on their slick you still have to wait for the Title to be given to you. Just wait a few seconds it'll come.



This is the Public House or just a Pub. The Gold pile floating above the building means that you can buy it if you so choose. OR you can just build your own. If you wanna build your own click on the 'Round' hammer icon. And you will see a few plans that you can build I suggest building a Bakery, you can buy off the Pub later when you have more money and Prestige.



This is the 'Build view' You see those Green Lines? That's were you can place your buildings inside town. Outside town you can Place the building wherever you want. But you don't want to build a bakery on the out side of town for Obvious reasons on being Bandits or thieves and the other no guards to fight them off. Not that their much help anyways T_T if there outnumbered by one. But I'm SURE they'll get better i mean its a simulation right? Everyone gets better as time passes ... Right?.




and after a little while...



Your building will be completed. And you will get a new cart and another employee for the business. Hire another worker (and upgrade your storage) if you can so you can do both of the starting foods.



And once there's Bread and cookies made be sure to place them in the Sales stock or you wont sell anything.

Sell like Hotcakes so when you have more then 15 bread move your other baker to help make cookies until the bread runs low

SO, now that you have a bakery and a Farm up and running you will now be RAKING IN THE DOE. Because the Bakery needs wheat and sugar beats to make the bread and cookies. You don't need to buy the ingredients anymore just sneak your cart past the bandits (if any) and sent the cart full of wheat and beats to the bakery and maybe sell the rest if the bakery is full of ingredients. (i think 40 is the cap)

In this section I'll tell you about how the court system works.

In the game I'm using for this guide, their is actually more Bandits and thieves then i first thought.
It turns out 3 of the 4 opposing family's are either thieves or Bandits >:( Yeah that can happen :/

SO what do we do about this?. Well you can either attack them with your own goons
(employed from your house) and FIRE BOMBS or you can attack them with the LAW. If you don't wanna get into to much trouble then use the law for the thieves because if you attack them in town the guards will attack you. Unless the Thieves are ACTUALLY doing harm to you or your Homes or Business's. But yeah go nuts on the Bandits, because they are out of town and away from "the protection" of the guards.

Now, lets say you want to charge someone for a Crime or Crimes just go to the Town Hall.



Click on the journal icon at the lower right corner of the screen (it looks like a book)

Then..



Go to the evidence tab ... Yes this person is the ♥♥♥♥♥ that runs the Bandit camp down the way from my Farm >:(

Then ...



Mouse over the Green 'Animal Husbandry' button (why its there i have no clue :/ ) click on the Icon that looks like a Judges gavel. The 'Charge someone' button. Pick the person you want to charge from the evidence tab in the journal. Your guy will go to that man that yaps a lot and he will attempt to charge the person you picked. (Yap Yap Yadda Yadda) OH... SHizzlesticks that slimy ♥♥♥♥ Has "immunity" >:( she can't be charged .... (sigh) well ♥♥♥♥! Welp i guess if the Law can't help i guess i'm gonna have to break out the Fire bombs and the Henchmen with Sharps to deal with this little problem >:/ Lets see how her "Immunity" protects her from Cold steel and Firey Explosions! >:)

Now Normally Most do NOT have Immunity (its a perk you get if you have a particular seat in office) if the Charge is successful you will have a court date to appear at it's usually the next round (4 years) at 9:00 or something you will be told of the date and time in your journal.

Then you go their at that time, and you will be the prosecutor in this case.
You will state your case and then the Judges will determine if the accused is innocent or not.
In the middle of the hearing you will get the opportunity to bribe or Flatter the Judges ( if one of them is female) so they go on your side (i assume the accused does this as well :/ )

You need to get their approval of you higher then the accused so they take your side. And the strength and the Validity of the evidence is also factor (its in the evidence tab) the judge will ask you to suggest a punishment and you will get the opportunity to pick the defendants punishment for his/her crimes. Now it may look like there's only three options but if you scroll down (mouse wheel) you will see more options up to death. If the judge/s all say guilty they will give the suggested punishment but if one says Not guilty they will not, but instead give them a "slap on the wrist" if you will, 4 years in prison or the Pillory. If all say Not guilty well the guy goes free doesn't he. >:/
Try and have a Henchman (employed from your house) Spy on the accused person before the trial begins in order to get better/more evidence against them increasing the chance of getting him/her executed or imprisoned. or get a Henchman to 'Ask around' (he walks around asking passers by whats up with this guy?) you will get more evidence quicker but it will be of lower quality.

Now Grudgingly, leave the building and go make some more cash, that Blue ♥♥♥♥♥'ll Pay in time. Once you have at least 6 Grand go upgrade your house and hire some Henchman, Unlock the Bombs (fire or the normal one) get your Henchman to find this ♥♥♥♥♥ and Kill her.
Check her name and go look for her. Once found Get your guys (and you, if you wish) to Swamp the ♥♥♥♥♥ and put her down. Do this away from the guards of course :l Once she is down (she may be still alive so Get one of your guys to use the "finishing someone off" button (A red Skull) and your guy will bury his knife into her face, killing her. The narrator will say "You have committed a MURDER!' D:! (AGAIN be sure to do this way from to many witnesses or YOU will be charged, be careful) if all is well, send one of your goons and tell him to go bomb the bandit hideout. And the rest of em to cover the bomber (their might be a few guys near the hideout to defend it from attacks) If your guys are too hurt to risk getting in another fight, best leave it until later, I'm pretty sure your goons will heal if you station them in your house. (or if you have Pirates/Renaissance send them to the Doctor to heal for a small fee.) And if not LEVEL that bandit camp! BURN IT TO THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GROUND!! D:<

TIP

The best time to break out fire bombs would be in the summer time when its hot and dry. fire bombs will be a bit less effective during the winter because the thing your trying to burn is cold and wet from the snow. ...it'll still burn just not as long as in summer :/.

In this section i'm going to tell you how to get the ladies ;)

Now i know this section is a bit late in the guide but its important to Grab a pretty lil thing as early as possible. Or when you have the time. (or if there are even "Pretty lil things" (chicks) running around). It's pretty strait forward, the Tutorial in the game will teach you this itself but i think that parts on CH 3 or something, so its best to hear it from me so you don't really need to do the tutorial, AND it'll be quicker.



SO there you are sitting their Forever alone :'C (well not really :/ but) you select your Character, and you see that blue heart button? Click on that and your cursor will turn into a circle with a heart in it. Now find a woman or man that you fancy, Again if your male you can only woo females, and vice versa, Naturally :l

when you find the woman of your virtual dreams select her and you will be met with a Courting screen



Awesome she's easy ;)

Note that each class of woman Rouge, Scholar ext. all have different aproaches when wooing them. so you'll have to mix it up a bit if your going for Scholar lets say.



Select yes and begin the courtship.

Now mouse over the blue icon again and find the follow button, tell her to follow you, and she will happily do so. Take her to the market and buy her some perfume. select the blue 'Give gift' icon and select the perfume and she will accept it and you will gain ... "Love Points"? O_o uhm its a bar that tells you how far you are to making her fall in love with your guy. Anyways after that take her to the bar.



AARG! Now this bar is completely useless! >:( and that's it for the pics :/ so I'll explain as best i can about the rest of what you do sorry :/ .

Now, in your game if the Pub has had some upgrades you should see an option to dance with her or spend some alone time in the bath tub. These two options give the most "Love Points" so IN ORDER hears what you do. (if you're Wooing a Craftsman/woman)

Say hi
Go buy perfume
Give her perfume
Go to bar
Complement her
Dance with her (300g)
Go share a bath (400g?)

By this time the other wooing options should be active
Beguile her (that a positive thing) Or Kiss her <--
And if the Love Bar is filled the narrator will say "she has fallen in love with you"

You can get Titles for free, if you marry a person that is of higher standing then you are then you will be upgraded to that standing upon completion of the marriage ceremony

Nows the time to get hitched in the Blue section of your action bar, their now should be a new Marriage Option. Select whether you want to get married in the chapel (1500g or 1800g) or "right here right now" which is free.
If you pick the second option you will be married right on the spot.

Another Note
--------------------------
if you try the "Marry hear and now" option on a man or woman of a high title (or higher then yours) i'm thinking it would fail. so don't think that you can marry ANYONE with the hear and now option don't be a cheap skate :).

If you choose the chapel you and your betrothed will run to the chapel and you will witness the marriage "i do" "I do" yadda yadda NOW comes the fun part.

Take your new Child factory (Your wife) back to your house. And in the Green section of your action bar their will be an option to "spend the night together" as such you and your wife will go behind the curtain and "do the do" ;). So after a few seconds (geeze the guy can't go for long can he? O_o) he will say "Darling i think you are preggers" (not in those exact words obviously) and POP you will have either a boy or a girl of a (10 year old) 0 year old kid appears in your house. You can have the option to name the kid whatever you want (try to pick a nice name T_T)

Oh and try and have boys if you have girls other filthy peasant dynasties will try to marry them..uhm i think that's an undesirable thing (in the beginning at least) :l so SAVE FIRST before you "Do the Do". You Need Boys.

So, Now you have the beginnings of a Family :D HAZZAH!! *Confetti* *Fireworks* *Balloons*
Okay party's over get back to work! >:(

now select your wife If you took a look at the Courting screen back in the last chapter you should of noticed that she was a Craftswoman!. Craftsman can open smithy's, Carpentry shops, Mines ( GOLD AND JEWELS BABY!!! :D) and clothing shops :/ .

With your wife selected open HER Build menu and you should have some new options for building. Lets go for the smithy for this guide. Pick a nice spot somewhere near the market. But far from those BASTARD thieves >:( uhhg ... IF ANY >_>.

After the place has been built it's pretty much like the other buildings you have open.
(All though you MAY need to actually give the business to your wife in order for her to work their as boss ( idk sometimes it works sometimes not ) just send her in and you should see an option 'assign as boss' icon click on that and the building's her's)

Hire a new employee or two, upgrade the storage and whatever else you want or can afford. And start making Weapons >:) and after a while, when you have collected a mighty sum of gold buy or build your own Mine (9000 or 10000g) and then you can supply your smithy with iron, silver, gold (mostly iron) and JEWELS :P or you can sell (the gold silver and gems) to the market for a hefty sum. And after a while of that Buy or build your own Woodcutters hut (with your wife) so you can supply your smithy with woods they'll need for some weapons. And then you will be completely self reliant. You wont have to buy anything after that. You'll just be making money at this point.
(if all goes well in your game like it HASN'T in mine >:( )

When you do build of buy a mine or Woodcutter's hut Be sure to build it next to exposed ores (Mine) or Wood piles (Woodcutters) otherwise your employees will have to walk to the nearest exposed ores or wood pile. It's kind of lame if you as me. you'd think a MINE would dig UNDER the ground instead of having the mine entrance as nothing but a storage building.

Okay, you (Should) have a thriving Business by now. Congratulations! :D

Now, know that you (your Character) won't be around forever, so its up to your Kids to take over the family business when you eventually Kick the bucket one way or another. so eventually the game will inform you that your children will come of age and they will be able to attend school at around age 4.

This is the University.


And when they finish they're Schooling, They will get the chance to learn the trade of your choice at age 8? i think, the game will let you know im sure. And when they graduate they will be able to open their own business. And FINALLY move the hell out of the house and get their own.

But if you Tooter your kid in a Scholar career like the Tinctury or Hospital your kid will get the chance to go to University a second stage of education.
And afterwards you kid will have "Dr." in front of there title/name "Dr. Nobleman Joe Blow" As example. (i'm not too sure what this actually does however )

Now it's best to teach (lets say you had 2 kids) your kids the other trades that you and your wife are not like Scholar and maybe ... i guess another Craftsman. So you could open another new business and Make your first son a Carpenter. So eventually he will be able to make War Machines like Catapults and battering rams. and your second son a "Mage"? or even a Doctor Thus Vastly increasing the range of items you make and $ell. (Theirs a guildmaster for all the classes ) theirs the Mages/Scholars guild (the path your Second son took) The Guild of craftsman (Your wife or your first son would be the master of that guild). The Thieves Guild and the Patrons guild (you'll be Master of that Guild) And that'll be one big step to getting a seat in government (assuming you buy new Titles when you can). Until you get a perk called "Political Regard" which (i assume) gives you a bonus in politics, it should be when you get the rank of Noble.

Okay, When creating your character, be sure to give points to Constitution, Stealth, Martial Arts
and/or Empathy. and set your Sign as Leo or Cancer or Gemini or Scorpio (Leo/Scorpio). these signs will buff one of your importent skills by one.

The first thing we have to do is decide on what Branch of Thief we want to be, Thief or Bandit. We will go with Thief to begin with. Now if there is a Smugglers den available by all means buy it, if not go ahead and build up your own.

Now Pick a Nice spot and set the location of your den, doing this will give you your professions ability's in your Red Icon in the action bar.

Pickpocketing will be your main source of income for now. So select it and head over to the town market and begin Pilfering pockets. Now know that being a thief is slow going at the start, you will earn a measly 40-50 gold a person. Just keep at it until your Den is built. When it's finished you will receive your first Thief. Send him/her to the market to help you collect gold. And if you want be sure to hire more thieves and spread them out throughout town on High traffic paths around the market. Two thieves IN the market area should be plenty good enough. Send the rest of them to Pickpocket elsewhere around town.

Now that your guys are set up, take your character back to his house to train, do this until you have enough exp. To level up your main skills. When night falls send one of your thieves to scout out a building (red icon) they will check a building to see what Security options are available to that building and what wealth it may contain. Once he's done scouting you will receive a scout report, look at it to see if its worth the effort to rob that building.

Usually at the beginning its not THAT worth the risk to rob buildings you will only receive around 200-350 or so gold for it. But then again I'm not you so, take the risk if you want to. BUT BE SURE TO WATCH OUT FOR THOSE BLOODY GUARDS! They always have a tendency to be right up your ass when you don't want them to be there. So timing and knowledge of the guards patrol routes is key.

Hears a trick, start breaking into a house or business and as the completion bar fills and you happen to notice a guard coming STOP looting the building and just stand there and whistle a tune until the guard/s pass and then continue looting the building the completion bar will continue to fill from where it left off. OH and Try this ... Rob a building with all your thieves they will each take a sum of cash from the building upon completion.

So do all this until you reach a decent sum of gold, then upgrade your Smugglers den and give it new features that allow you to do more as a thief and upgrade your thieves.

Oh and don't shy away from getting into Office, being the captian of the guard has its advantages as in when you get control of them you can send them to guard a tree on the corner of the map so there will be less guards running around to spoil your house robbing plans.

Eventually you will get the ability to Kidnap people and hold them for ransom this is a big money earner. Look around town and find someone worth a pretty penny and tell your thief to 'Kidnap' them, and they will attack them and knock them out and your guys will toss the poor sod in a sack and they'll drag him back to your Base.

Now I ... Don't play as a thief myself (it is ever so BORING to play) so I'm just guessing hear, you will be able to set a ransom for your "Guest" that the owning family will have to pay. If they don't..idk what happens (Haven't tried it) if they do, you will receive that amount and your prisoner will be set free. Perhaps if they don't pay the ransom you could Kill the prisoner if you want to or keep him/her for longer until they pay.

And that's the thief.

Now the bandit on the other hand is a bit more exciting to play because there's more killing involved >:)

Now instead of the thieves den build or buy your own bandit camp somewhere outside of the walls of your starting town. When built hire more Bandits and start waylaying the roads into town.

Whenever a cart comes rolling by you and your guys'll attack the cart and steal its goods and haul them into there hideout's storage. Be sure to make a (oxe) cart of your own so as to send these stolen goods to the market to sell yourself. Now don't get to attached to your Bandits because they are pretty damn weak sauce at the start.

IF YOU CAN buy some armor and weapons as soon as you can so you can at least equip them with some actual gear so they won't die as fast. Because the carts owners will eventually start sending them with guards that you'll have to kill before you can take its goods. To give your bandits a better chance at survival hire some Goons of your own at your house, and send them to "Escort" your bandits, giving them a bit of back up.

Keep attacking carts until you have a good sum of gold and buy your self another house, Build it somewhere near your bandit hideout. This house will be a back up house incase you get charged for attacking all these carts. You will receive a court date that you would have to attend in order to claim your "Innocence" but you can safely ignore this and continue Pillaging.

You will be labeled as an outlaw for missing the court date and you won't be able to go to your main house because guards and perhaps other citizens will attack you on sight**. But seriously who cares? You have a house on the outside of the wall so you still have a place to rest your head and train, and the guards won't attack your carts sending in stolen loot to sell. So your pretty much safe from harm. And you have another house to hire more goons to protect your bandits with. Win Win.

Okay your bandits will be fighting quite a lot eventually and they will get hurt if one of your guys is in the yellow or red send them to your Bandit camp and tell them to rest they will sit down and begin healing themselves. Once fully healed send them back to the road to continue pillaging. Tell your Goons to Escort the Bandits that aren't hurt so as to keep them from dieing as your other bandits heal.

There's a lot of micromanaging doing this, telling your goons to guard the bandits on the road while the others heal and when they return to the road tell some goons to continue guarding the bandits that return and tell the most hurt bandit to go back to camp. But if done right this should prevent a lot of casualties and hiring of new blood which is a pain to retrain because of lost talent. :/

okay if you've gathered up a large sum of gold go ahead and buy or build a Thieves den so you can at least get thieves to pickpocket inside town earning you continuous sums of gold as the day goes by. No need to manage them just worry about your camp mostly the thieves are there to pick pockets mostly. If you want to manage them both go ahead, you can make Lots of money doing both but its a pain in the hind quarters for sure :/ But that's just me.

The Guild 2: Renaissance is the final version of this game its MUCH BETTER then the guild 2 vanilla. it has more jobs, fewer bugs, no GERMAN dialog More/better maps its just better!. don't bother getting pirates of the european seas either, its still $hit to Renaissance. if you bought The guild 2 vanilla GO GET A REFUND ASAP and get Renaissance instead. it has mods, Mods that fixes more of the bugs and adds new features. it has a mod loader that has a mod already installed in it for people to use.
