The Basics
The need to knows of this guide

  • Night time power consumption is 6 units per in game hour
  • Daytime power consumption is 25 units per in game hour
  • Night time lasts 9 hours so total power consumption is 54 units
  • Every powered equipment has the same power consumption
  • Batteries hold set amounts of x units which vary in capacity

Marking the images below as spoilers makes them really annoying to deal with and also less clean looking over all. So I am not going to hide them.

That being said, I tried to make the pictures as spoil free as possible. The only thing that is spoiled, is the electronic components you unlock later into the game. So, this is your warning. Reading beyond this point is at your own risk.

Am I losing efficiency by plugging WALL -> Plugboard -> 6x Carbon Batteries -> Plugboard -> Item. ? Trying to make LOTS of devices work

[Update Coming] Hey everyone! So in a recent update they made the carbon battery hold 350 power for the night instead of 200. I will be updating this guide, when I can, to have more accurate power set ups with carbon batteries. shout out to FishFlop for pointing this out as my base was already set up and I didn't notice the difference.

if a device drains 54 battery charge per night and a carbon battery holds 350, why do i need other batteries involved to power 6 devices? i should have 30 charge left over

I just put down a ton of Industrial batteries and connect them all to each other.

Whoa, i think it's worth mentioning that if you first plug the wall into a plug strip it's like having three power plugs in one spot than can each power their own battery station. So there's really no advantage to having a base with more than one plug. You could even plug strips into strips as many times as you want if you are crazy enough... xD

Hey Big Mac, by default the button is E (keyboard) or X (controller) to connect. But have you made sure that you didn't rebind that to another button by accident?

Hi, posting here bc I can't find anywhere else to.... I can't get the work bench to plug in. It's in range of the outlet, assembled and everything, but when I take the power cord and click directly on the plug on the back of the workbench, it doesn't plug in...... I've tried all over the work bench and 3 different outlets. Any suggestions?

Also, you beat me to battery connection setups.

Just as well, the length of my guide was already rather long, and don't know how to best shoehorn it in.

Btw, I think F10 toggles your HUD off and on. It should help in giving you cleaner screen shots.

I probably should just do a cross reference to here to help keep things clean.
