What's this all about?
This guide is for new users of Yet Another Economy Mod. I'm gonna tell you how to start and not to lose all funds in one week, how to earn for first own truck and how to establish well prospering logistics company.

If you don't know how to play with YAEM and earn money, you lose all your money at start, you're ruined by too quick loan or just want to know my way to play here you go... let's start. :)
Requirements
To be successful you'll need (in this order):
  • a LOT of patience
  • about 30-40 hours of free time
  • a little skill in safe driving
  • a little skill in eco driving
  • a little skill in manual parking

You need to want to manual park your trailer because many experience points for it, to drive carefully because high penalties and costs of repairing, to be a TRUE trucker, not some wannabie driving 150km/h. Penalties are MUCH more painful, payments much smaller, first own truck or garage is a dream. You can’t expect that something will come fast and easy. You need patience.

If you can confirm you're ready to be TRUE trucker just install desired YAEM version and play. This guide is for classic YAEM mostly, but you can use it for Lite version as well.

You can find YAEM for Euro Truck Simulator 2 here:

or for American Truck Simulator here:

First thing first
Best way to play with YAEM is making new profile and starting new game. Playing at existing profile can cause reduced progression (especially driver level) and won't be so fun as a new game. Whole charm of YAEM is in its hardness and feel of accomplishment of achieving new perks, trucks, garages etc.

So if you want full experience I advise you to make new profile. It could be pain at the beginning, but you'll use to it.

At start, just make some profitable deliveries. Sort deliveries by earnings and choose the best one every time. Don't expect any progress in the first hours, just make money. You need about 120 000€ to buy first truck, so… just keep driving, just keep driving. ;)
First loan and own truck

After 20 finished deliveries, you’ll get a message from the bank that you can get your first loan. Do not do this! It’s too early. Keep making deliveries and earn at least 60 000 - 70 000€.

Then you can get a small loan to buy your first truck. It should take about 20–40 hours of playtime. It depends on your skills, speed, luck and choosing good deliveries.

Choosing truck

In my opinion, Volvo is best for first truck. It's not so expensive, it's powerful and drive well, it has easy to read cockpit and clocks.

But you can choose any truck you want - there are no bad trucks. Just pick one you like.

For really true trucking experience, you might want to pick a not so powerful one, for example Iveco. With a weak engine, you're going to feel the weight of the trailers much better. Powerful engines sometimes can ruin all fun.

Remember: choose wisely because you're not going to buy a second truck anytime soon, and you are doomed to drive this one for another many hours. ;)
What next?
Now you have to earn some money to pay loan and upgrade your garage in future. You can't hire any drivers before you upgrade garage so you just need to earn.

You will earn much more money with own truck so you can pay installments and even save something.

After upgrade it’s up to you - you can drive your own beloved truck and earn more money, or you can hire first driver and make even more money with him driving your truck while you drive quick jobs. This is good way to earn quickly. But remember that hired driver need some time to start earning. First few days it could be only loss, so be careful with your budget.

At this point your life should be easy - just make clean deliveries, pay daily installments and earn money for next truck.
Skill points
Good idea is to put skill points: first in long distance, next one in some ADR (explosives for example, because deliveries with explosives are well payed), and three to each next skills but eco.

Eco skill is really important and useful because with full eco skill you will use 40% less fuel. Just count how much you can save. But leave eco skill untouched until you buy own truck. It’s useless before that. :)

After that get full eco skill, all ADR's possible and rest of the points put wherever you can or want.

Remember to set "realistic fuel consumption" option in settings to ON!
End-game
Rest of the game is really easy - just keep earning, upgrade your garage, then buy next one, buy new trucks and hire new drivers... With level progression you gonna earn good money so you'll be able to buy any parts or fancy things to your trucks.

Happy trucking!

Hi, great mod. I'm using in ETS2 and ATS. It's much more challenger. There's a toll between Odense and Copenhagen on E20 highway that costs 234 euros. Is that correct? Congratulations, you made a great work for the game. Thank you.

@Kaldie, there is no such file in Rusmap and Poland Rebuilding fixes, so you need to edit core version of YAEM only. Fixes are for extra ferry prices only, so if some map mod doesn't include extra ferries there is no need to fix.

Thanks Reqruiz, I want to try your method but must I do that to all the versions I use ? Because I use three versions at the same time like you said in the tutorial...Standard, Fix Rusmap and Poland rebuild version. I also have Turkey and Romania Rebuild but they seem to work with the standard version...

@Kaldie, did you try YAEM Lite? You will earn more with Lite and it would be easier to play.

But if you don't like Lite it's possible to edit my mod and set default job rewards or as high or low as you want to. You just need to edit one file. To find this file you need to know ID of your YAEM version and search for it in steam's workshop files.

For examle it's "S:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\227300\698938449\" on my PC. This number 698938449 is ID of classic YAEM. And there you need to edit universal/def/economy_data.sii file and change few variables. It's easy to guess which ones because comments. Default values are in [brackets].

Remember though when you edit my mod and I update it some day it will erase your changes so make backup of your changes or set file to read only mode. Also be careful with values because it could be game breaker or unbalanced gameplay.

If you need some more help, let me know. Good luck!

I love this mod, at least the part of XP that you get for a job that you can do. Via this way you won't be able to upgrade as soon as in the regular vanilla game. However, the part that I don't like is the amount of money you get paid for a job. Costs for police fines are high, costs for toll is high, and costs for ferry and trains are high as well...

Is there any way possible that you can change the money that you recieve for a job can be the same as in the vanilla game, but the other things that you made for this mod as is ? So only money on normal and the rest as in your mod ?

You don't have to release that as a mod perse, but can I edit stuff in the mod so I can get paid a little more for my work in the game ?

Thanks man ! Keep up the good work !
