Introduction
This guide is a work in progress so things are subject to change.
We will also update the guide when we have the time to do so.

Hi and welcome to the guide.

This guide will tell you more about the game and it's mechanics.

If you find this guide helpful, leave a like.

Gameplay
In this section i'm telling you how the gameplay works. There's a lot of things you need to know.

Objective
In some of the levels you need to collect these things called "Magatamas". You need to get a certain amount of magatamas depending on the difficulty to be able to finish the level using the altar.

Difficulty
Amount of magatamas
Novice
3
Challenger
5
Path Of Asuras
5

After you have collected the needed amount of Magatamas you need to find a way to the altar where you can put these Magatamas. You will need a compass for finding a way to the altar. Magatamas can be found in locked rooms, dressers and on tables in front of Weeping Women. The levels where you have to collect Magatamas are randomized so the locations of Magatamas are different each time you restart the level.
Items

Explanation
Lighter
Main character's grandmother's lighter. It's a rare beauty and only few were produced. You may not see far with it. The light from the lighter isn't enough for apparitions to see you from far away

Item
Explanation
Flashlight
The flashlight works with batteries. Be careful when using the flashlight because the light can be seen by apparitions, the flashlight also has limited battery so use it wisely.

You can pick up the glowing stone and reuse them. When apparitions are close to you and if you need to see what's around you, use these instead of a lighter or a flashlight.

Item

Old camera
An old flash bulb camera. You can't use it for taking pictures but you can instead use it for flashing apparitions. The closer you are to the apparition, the more effective the flash will be. This item can also be used once but you can hold more than one. When for example you have two old cameras and you use one, you need to wait a little bit to be able to use the second one.

Item
Explanation
Compass
The Compass shows you the location of the altar where you need to go after you've collected a certain amount of magatamas.

Item
Explanation

Apparitions
Apparitions are the enemies in the game. There are several different of them that have different strategies. Here we'll be listing all of them.

Apparition
Explanation
Kagura bell
This apparition can be troublesome. When you hear bell noises it means that it's close to you. Don't run because it will come to the location where you've been running. Instead walk, crouch or go hide somewhere.

Apparition
Explanation
Stampeding apparition
The stampeding apparition runs around the corridors. It's fast and it can go through doors. Thankfully this apparition can't hear which means you don't have to worry about alerting it with sounds. You can also easily get away from it before it sees you by running away.

Apparition
Explanation
Apparition of the Weeping Woman
The Weeping Woman cries in front of a magatama. They're sensitive to sounds. Do not shine your flashlight around her because she can see it easily. You can walk if you're not in the same room, otherwise crouch. By using a firecracker, you can draw her attention.

Apparition
Explanation
The Gluttonous Fiend
The Gluttonous Fiend only appears in level 5. It moves faster in water and slower when outside of water. It's faster than the player so use whatever objects you find around to buy some time.

Difficulties
There's 4 different difficulties. Easy, Challenger, Path of Asuras and Magatama challenge.

Difficulty
Explanation
Novice
  • Novice difficulty is for players who find the Challenger difficulty too hard.
  • This difficulty is good for learning the game.
  • The number of apparitions and their difficulty is lowered.
  • The number of Magatamas is reduced to 3.
  • If you die, you can revive yourself. You do not consume Magatamas on this difficulty.
  • The stone door is locked (see Challenger difficulty below)
Challenger
  • This is the normal difficulty.
  • The number of Magatamas is increased to 5.
  • If you die and you picked up a Magatama before it you're then able to revive yourself by consuming one Magatama.
  • There's a stone door at the beginning of the game where you can collect the golden Magatama which then leads to the secret levels that ultimately lead to the true ending.
Path of Asuras
  • This is hard mode for true challengers.
  • This can be unlocked after you complete all levels on challenger difficulty.
  • When you die, you can't revive yourself which means you have to start the level from the beginning. Story chapters have checkpoints.
  • Enemy placements and their difficulties have been raised significantly.
  • All apparitions appear in the levels: Corridor Of the Evening Cicadas and Congregation Of Souls.
Magatama challenge
  • This is the challenge mode and it's separate from the main game. You can unlock it by completing Distended Hate level on challenger mode.
  • Enemy placement is set to the challenger difficulty.
  • You have to collect as many Magatamas as you can within a time limit of 3,5 to 7 minutes depending on the level.
  • Collected Magatama will add 1 to 2 minutes to said time limit also depending on the level.
