AGOT: Alternative History - Azlar Heritage

描述
Unconventional and non-canonical addition to the CK3AGOT which aims to provide an extra cultural variety. Azlar cultural heritage is somewhat reminiscent of Daco-Romanian, Slavic, Baltic or even Basque peoples' background, marked by centuries of assimilation and invasions. Prevailing stoic attitude and stubbornness are recurring determinants of this cultural milieu. The remoteness of woodland, taiga or desert habitats, mobile pastoralism and freedom-fighting brigandage ensured the survival and thriving of some Azlar communities, so you are given the opportunity to customize starting ruler by choosing between several variations of Azlar culture, an assortment of physical appearances related to specially forged ethnicities, and personal and dynastic names very different from others known in A Song of Ice and Fire lore.

Features:

A self-standing cultural heritage and distinct cultural pillars: Azlar

Nonstandard name list: Azlar female names (e.g. Trabozlara, Dorana, Dorma, Golezlara, Golena, Golerma, Voruvila), Azlar male names (e.g. Trabozlar, Traboz, Trabozet, Vordan, Vorukir, Voruvir, Voruzlar), Azlar dynasties names (e.g. Abaranor, Omarel, Bretizlaret, Dirovilet).

Unique cultural innovation: Subversive Siegecraft (unconventional methods of attacking fortresses).

Special cultural Men-at-Arms: Skirmishers called Haidouk Stalkers seem like historical hajduks, klephtes, uskoks, cossacks or fedayeen.

Ten new cultures:
- Azlar, ancestral culture of Azlar Heritage, lost in antiquity (or maybe not...)
- Black Azlar, which is known for tradition of hospitality (recommended for northern part of the map, due to winter climate aesthetics of buildings)
- Red Azlar, which is known for castle keeping tradition (preferably for southern parts, differentiated by mild climate architectural aesthetics)
- Blue Azlar, which is known for tradition of seafaring (south seas are implied)
- Green Azlar, which is known for storytelling tradition (best to settle south of the Neck)
- Grey Azlar, which is similar to Black Azlar culture for its esteemed hospitality tradition (to use beyond The Wall due to being rooted in customs contrary to the habits of the 'kneelers')
- Ashen Azlar, which is somewhat similar to Green Azlar due to tradition of storytelling (also use only beyond The Wall, for it is a free folk culture
- Cinnabar Azlar, which is known for warlike traditions (adapted to fighting in the Disputed Lands area of the Essos)
- Beryl Azlar, which is for known for storytelling and seafaring traditions (accustomed to the Braavosi traditional outfit)
- (((WIP))) Umber Azlar, which is for known for pastoralist traditiona (waiting to gain its place in the struggle for dominance over the steppe)

In these cultures, color epithets in the peoples' names sometimes represent the cardinal directions, and sometimes a general idea of their physical appearance or living environment.

Ten distinct ethnicities: Generally speaking, Azlar physical features include tall stature, delicate nose and amber-colored eyes more frequently than other Westerosi ethnicities. Apart from that, ancient Azlars (Usher Azlar ethnicity) were similar to other Human Antiquity groups, the Blue Azlars are recognizable by their dark pigmentation, and the Green Azlars, the Ashen Azlars, and the Beryl Azlars by their general pallor.

It should be noted that Azlar cultures are known for dressing in simple woolen clothes, just as they are notorious for their unsophisticated hairstyles, so the vanilla CK3 Northern aesthetic of clothing was chosen. The exceptions are the Essosi based ones, who adopted local clothing customs (the Beryl Azlar is particularly striking for its flamboyant Braavosi garb).

Areas with remaining Azlar population are defined on the map. A few scattered provinces, currently under the rule of feudal lords or tribal leaders from the hegemonic cultures of the Seven Kingdoms, the Land of Always Winter or the free cities of western Essos, could become the basis for a new Azlar ruler's state or a source for recruiting courtiers from akin culture.

Note:
The (WIP) Umber Azlar culture will be further defined in accordance with the anticipated expansion related to the "Khans of the Steppe" and accompanying patches.

Smaller cultures like this really help make Westeros feel less... uniform. I like it.

Note: In the latest update, more significant changes were made: seven completely new ethnicities were created, seven separate cultures were defined, cultural traditions were redefined, a new cultural innovation was introduced, aesthetic parameters were changed, and a few provinces were given new cultural content.
