Interesting. At this point (post Western banquet) I had Daoxuan's bond maxed at 100 (was farming for xp/sect techniques) and he had told me about the Herbal Fairy before setting off to the West. I ended up gifting a bunch of things to the Grumpy One and reached bond level 60 that way (left Li alive, begged for Cheng Yu to be able to join the sect). The dialogue was a bit different but the two of them talked about her being their last hope for Moli that way. Will keep you updated whether she will heal Moli after all of that, if you would like.
Note: I am on new game+ on easy... in this play through, I was trying to please Qingxiao rather than Qingxu the sect leader.
I did gift Qingxiao once and his affection was >= 60 by this point.
1. When you join Wudang, Agree with him on his views of evil
2. As senior disciple, kill Li Tianbao in Pingkang rather than sparing him as the detective demanded. (Qingxiao actually takes over as the senior representative from here on out).
3. When you're back from Western Regions (after birthday gift), Reject Cheng Yu from joining Wudang.
4. Don't sleep, Go up and look for Qingxiao and get a look at Moli.
Once you wake up and preparing to head to Nanjiang, go to where Daoxuan is to trigger this event.
