This mod provides animations that trigger when you use a consumable item.

bespoke animations for keen consumables everything else has an eating emote.

to do:
reduce camera clipping
improve the script to show consumables in hand.
Sever only version for mod.io

Honestly I've not tried, it should just display the generic eating emote for a consumable not in the old list.

Does this work for the new survival update? Cause the new food is in packaging and it would be neat to have custom animations for those

Speaking of, Chipstix and Wulfric, I forget the title, but there is a story on the HFY subreddit about why all the engineers look the same. They are all clones, unaware that they are all that remains of a long dead human empire. Forever building, fighting, and destroying as a sort of biological von Neuman machine.
