This mod adds a new lifestyle trait: The Warlord.
The trait features three distinct tracks: Attack, Defense, and Pillage.

When leading an army, a character has a chance to gain XP in the track related to their actions:

Gaining XP when attacking, defending, or raiding.

However, failing in attacks or defenses can result in XP loss for the respective track.

Once a character reaches 100 XP in Pillage, their next successful raid will automatically grant the Raider trait.

This trait is perfect for warlike rulers who live by the sword—and profit from it.

I'd say the Trait xp is too little for this mod right now, you have to be in near constant wars back,to back, to back, with hundreds of battles just to get to the first or second level, and hundred pillaging actions.

can you be more specific on what gives defense experience? so far i maxed out pillage and got to tier 2 of attack but none exp in defense

You're right, that was it.

I have a very advanced game and there are many armies, that's why there are many characters with the trait.

Lurumagno, some can be raiding, and one question what is you kingdom tier ? If it his above duchy and you have vassals, its probally because they are being employed by someone in your kingdom.

I don't know why, but there are characters who have never been in command of an army but have the trait....
