The issue with the beam weapons (this includes Leia's blaster as well) that no one really seems to realize is the way the beam is being shot from your character. The beam rifle does not shoot from your gun, rather it shoots from the tippy top of your character's head. When at close range this is why this gun feels effective because there is short enough distance for that discrepancy of where the beam is being shot from to not matter as much. When sniping with it though, aim near the stomach area instead and you'll immediately notice what I'm talking about.

Not justifying this broken POS rifle though. The normal rifle w/ damage boost is still far superior, but figured I'd let anyone reading this know what the beam rifle is actually doing to possibly help you make it slightly more use-able. Lol

I'm glade they added that update, so long as they fix the unlocks not staying unlocked bug

thankfully you can swap out reward weapons before spawning, beam rifle feels like cheeks I hate it

good lookin out. agree with Magpie, hopefully they can figure out how to fix it. would be cool to get a truly polished, idealized version of this game where everything works the way it was BOTH originally AND intended to work

I remember getting head shots with it on my old copy, but it was a day one copy, and I did see differences from my copy to my friend's copy, the problem was always the range for me and what I listed, I have tried it here, if anything it's worse then it was in my copy, most of the beam weapons are not as good as the normal weapons

Not fixed hopefully they fix it. If you do unlock it you can toggle it on/off also

have you tried it in this game yet? someone was asking in the discussions if they fixed the bug that made it not register headshots and i'm curious about that myself, i came to the same conclusion you did back in 2005 but even to this day i still wonder what that rifle could be if you could just get headshots with it. i wouldn't even need to do the on-field sniping like i usually do, i'll just camp a turret, we all know how the bots love their turrets lol
