Department Store JEŠTĚD

Built in Liberec between 1970 and 1979, architects Karel Hubáček* and Miroslav Masák.
Slaughtered in 2009 to make space for another soulless shopping gallery.

In game it works like a huge universal store for 100 workers and up to 2000 customers.
4 parking slots, 2 factory connections.

I was working on this model for good 3 weeks and I gave it special love. As you can see, even the L1 passage is fully modelled.

Those concrete statues are not from real real life – I needed something to fill empty space.


*Karel Hubáček, 1924–2011 was the only Czech architect, who got the Perret prize. He got it for the Ještěd Tower.
The curious thing is, by coinsidence this mod gets released on the 100th birthday of Mr. Hubáček.

Tak to ses po...al. Oba dva tvoje Ještědy jsou naprosto úžasný. RESPECT jako prase. A to jsem normálně slušnej člověk, ale z tohodle jsem šel fakt do kolen.

Oh no, just a little joke 😄 This is probably the largest number of lights in one object. Even adding a bulb to each lantern would be tedious, let alone a spot of light. And it’s also true that such a quantity will undermine optimization. Btw, I didn’t know about the limit on the number of lights 🤔 how much is it?

- Děkuji za milá slova, byla to výzva, ale hlavně radost.

- Lanterns… I've been thinking about that, it even wouldn't be such pain, if it was made in the inGame building editor and then the coordinates got moved to the actual mod. But I'll leave it just with the emissive texture, there's some technical limit of the number of lights. I overall find this solution less HW demanding.

- I agree, this was a gem, so it's a real shame, another reason to hate real estate developers. I've never been to Liberec so far but as far as I heard, the locals realise what loss the demolition was.
