Crysis 64bit with working steamoverlay

Recently I decided to try rage on its 64bit version and I was surprised to se that even on 64 bits the steamoverlay was still present, so I started to test how to make it work with Crysis on its 64 bits version, and I made it.

Go to your Steam Crysis folder located at:

X:\Y\Steam\SteamApps\common\Crysis Where X: reprecents your drive name, and Y your folder structure.

Unzip steam_api.dll and steam_api64.dll from steam_api.zip inside Crysis folder

Unzip Bin64 folder from Bin64zip inside Crysis folder

Copy testapp.exe from Bin32 into Bin64

Rename Bin32 into Bin32.bak and Bin64 into Bin32.

Launch the game and enjoy it runing into 64bit version with steamoverlay working.

2024: this guide is old and with quirks and some issues. Restore original game, remove any compatibility setting, and use comrade/c1-launcher on GitHub instead (but won't fix missing Steam overlay).

For anyone who is still trying to run the OG Crysis in 64bit and just getting a black screen before crashing...

1. Go to your Crysis 64 bit folder
2. Right-click the "Crysis" executable, click on "Properties" and go to the "Compatibility" Tab
3. Choose "Windows 7" for the Compatibility dropdown list

This should get the 64 bit version of Crysis to run. Haven't checked it out for Crysis Warhead, but I think it should work for that game as well.

However, I still can't get the Steam Overlay to actually show up on screen using this method. Setting Crysis to run in Windows 7 mode lets the game actually load up but the Steam Overlay still doesn't appear.
