This is my first time making a guide but I enjoyed this game and I've almost 100% completed it so I'd like to help new players or completionists by compiling help for quests and achievements here. I'm not sure how far I will get with this so comment all your tips, questions, and add me as a friend if you'd like me to add you as an editor.

Tutorial
(Current as of February 2nd 2024)

When you create a character you can choose from different portraits and species, which have varying traits. Don't forget to name your dog in the bottom left corner, too!

Unpacking
When unpacking your stuff, notice some items have an arrow showing which way the front of the item should face.

Dyes
The back room of the house comes with a shelf full of dyes - use these to change the colour of the house interior and exterior walls, floors and roof by throwing the dye (hold Left-click.) There's also bleach to reset that area to normal. Check out the house paint guide another user made for more info on dye.

In-game tutorial: Tab and Right-click
When making your first potion the in-game tutorial tells you to click on the earth aspects and then the individual ingredients in the Tab menu - I could never figure out why. Upon replaying the game I thought it activated a tracking feature* but that never happens again. There's no need to repeat this step ever again, it's just to familiarise yourself with the ingredient menus.

(*Later in the tutorial you do unlock the Map by pressing M, which shows you the general location of some ingredients as you discover them.)

You can press Tab any time to check the ingredient chart for reference. Pressing Tab while hovering the cursor over a tool (like the mortar) with an ingredient in hand will show you on the chart how it will alter the aspect of that ingredient.

Right-click any time while holding an ingredient or potion to check it's description and current aspects - it also tells you the keys for interacting with it such as Q to drop or F to drink, as applicable.

Potion Brewing Tip #1: if you're having trouble drawing the symbols with your mouse, I find that making sure the lengths of the points on < and > are even, for example, helps it register as that shape (it gets confused if the top or bottom line is too shorter than the other.)

Potion Brewing Tip #2: Tap the E button continuously when using the mortar to grind ingredients faster.

Sleep
You will need to get so far as sleeping for the first time to save your new game file!
Sleeping during the day carries time forward to night, and upon sleeping at night you will wake up the next day. You can sleep any time you want. The day/night cycle is shown on the bottom left.

There's no need to fear night time or NPCs (besides slime)........ Yet.

Combat - killing the slime
To hit the slime you will need to find and pick up a stick. The nearest one I'm aware of is leaning against a barrel on the beach to the right of your house but over the course of the game I found 3.

Green slimes sometimes have rotten food inside them which are also alchemy ingredients. Different slimes have different things inside.

When you are hit by an enemy there is a ding sound and gold stars - slime attack by jumping towards you so I would generally step backwards while whacking them with left click.
You can also block with your weapon by holding the right mouse button, which effectively stops damage from one enemy attack.

Vines and going to Town
After making the mystery potion, which turns out to be a Potion of Toxic Breath, you drink it to throw up acid all over the vines. This is the method you'll use to destroy all the vines. Yes, really.
I recommend following the path to the Town on the left to begin with and removing those vines first.

Eve will give you an Enchanted Paper when you complete her first quest, which can be used to save recipes - then you can auto-craft the potions to get rid of the rest of the vines (providing you have the ingredients in your bag or in a chest or shelf at home.) Potions Recipes saved using the Enchanted Paper can be accessed in the J menu - they always use the same ingredients you used at the time you saved it, so even if a Potion is craftable from different ingredients the auto-craft won't work unless you have the same ingredients available.

In Town you find Eve at her stall. She gives you the Alchemy Stone which gives you a hint for ingredients and tools you can use to make your pinned potion. There are MANY ways to make potions though so don't feel restricted to the ingredients on the list - try altering many ingredients in different ways to get the right aspect and you CAN make potions you think you have to unlock new ingredients for. If you really get stuck you may need to try new methods by buying more Tools.

For the quests you pick up in town after handing in your first Contract with Salem, you may need to buy recipes for new potions from Eve - other traders in the game also sell recipes or ingredients. As your reputation increases, more will become available to buy. You can also buy from the Tool stall, Furniture stall, and Fruit & Vegetable stall, as well as eventually buy your own Potions stall to sell your potions without Contracts.

Use the Portal to return Home - once you unlock more Portal locations, you can press the arrows to change the Portal destination. (Your dog can follow you through the Portal too and be summoned/dismissed any time with Z.)

Now you've finished the in-game tutorial and are onto real quests, but here's some other things you should know:

You can have multiple save games - click Continue from the Main Menu to select which save file to load. It will display your character name and number of in-game days passed.

You can go in bodies of water, but you can't swim. You need to jump continuously to avoid drowning, and if the waters too deep / you're in there too long then you won't be able to jump out and you will drown and respawn at home (minus some small amount of coins if you're not playing on the easiest mode.)

You can unlock various Skills which you can view on your Character page in the Journal.
Some are unlocked by gameplay, others you can buy at various traders (but you still might need to complete some tasks to unlock the skill itself.)

Quest: 'To The Farmlands!'/'A Small Favor'
What could be called the first quest of the game, Salem has asked you to go visit the Farmlands outside of Town and help the farmer grow his crops. (Follow the sign posts and paths - once you visit you can fast travel via Portal.)
But wait, Eve has also asked you to go to the Farmlands - but to poison the farmers crops.
By completing A Small Favor you will fail To The Farmlands! and vice versa. You will also be locked out of some Eve quests and her Night Market if you choose to help Salem instead.

On the way to the Farmlands you pass a Blacksmith you can trade with. There's also Sunflowers and Honey you can harvest for ingredients. If you've taken the Regicide quest from the Hunter, you'll past the giant pink King Slime on the hill (ignore him for now.) You can also pick up Animal Manure and Fly from the cow pasture and Milk the cows.

Whether you decide to use Growth or Poison, you will need at least 4 Potions.
Hold left click, aim and release to throw them on the crop field. When the purple meter fills you will be done with this step.

To Help the Farmer ('Honest Work'), you must first knock on his door until he comes out and tells you what he'd like you to do. Afterwards you can buy things from him like Seeds for your garden.

If you choose to Poison the Farmlands, don't hurt yourself by walking into the toxic clouds. Watch out! The Farmer gets mad and starts punching you - you must fight him with your weapon (stick) until he is knocked out. He will wake up the next day and let you trade with him no problem.

I do not know what Potion you're supposed to throw on Eve for the 'correct' choice, but you can complete the quest AND get your revenge by throwing a Potion of Toxic Breath at her.
Quest: 'Archeology'
This section is in progress

When you return to town after opening the red chest on top of the hill, on the other side of the Ancient Door, you will speak to Salem. There will be a line of dialogue where only one button works to 'press any key to continue' - I tried all of them, if I recall correctly it was Tab. No need to close the game and lose your progress.
Quest: 'The Winterlands'
This section is in progress

To prepare to go through the cave, you should have at least 1x Potion of Light and 2x Potion of Jump. Other useful potions include Potion of Double Jump (drink to gain ability for second, mid-air jump) and Potion of Lightness (drink for anti-gravity effect), both most effective when used in conjunction with Potion of Jump (drink to increase jump height.)

The Potion of Light can be consumed to illuminate yourself, or thrown (by holding Left-click and aiming with the mouse) to create static balls of light where they land. It lasts a reasonably long time.

Press F to consume the Potion of Light after crawling through the passageway (hold CTRL.)
There is a big hole in the middle - you will die if you fall in.
There are jumping platforms along the walls to the left and right.
It is very hard to see.

Once you reach the other end of the cave and are in The Winterlands (plus any time you fast travel back to the Winterlands via Portal) you will need to drink a Potion of Warming to not freeze to death.

Secrets
In the Winterlands, climb the mountain on the left using your Jump and Double Jump potions (follow the lanterns) and you will find a giant statue which can be prayed at to unlock an alchemy tool.

There is a small pouch of gold inside the Hunter's tent.

On top of the buildings in Town there are various items - use a Jump potion to explore.

Jump up here to the left of the Quarry on the way to the Farmlands.

For tools of the trade, a perfume turned out to be the "right" one.
Really recommend that potion, by the way. It's potentially the most powerful one in the game in terms of progression
