move your parts around.
you simply dont have enough components to secure everything, so dont be afraid to sloppily throw parts around when you need to

always, ALWAYS lungs.
seriously, trust me, always have lungs, it will take care of so much.

emergency breasts
sounds silly, but i'd advise keeping a fine pair of breasts on backup for when you need them, because if you're playing legit, you will need them.

bees are your friend
bees give you tasks when they reach your heart, complete the task, get a power up, you can get extra input/output slots, extra energy/hp(?) extra attachment range(?) a heal, and the ability to amputate a body part.
the main ones you want are the extra input/output slots, since those can give some extremely powerful combinations, and help with organization a ton, for instance, an eye with extra output can see twice as much

this game was made by a small team, so the code wont be flawless, and flaws in the code can be exploited if you're looking for an easier gameplay experience, there are two practical exploits i've found so far.

mobile body parts
the first one being the ability to move an active part, mostly useful on scream parts, how you do this one, is you move the part you wish to keep mobile, then place it, and before the connections attach again, move it around again, but dont let go, this should make it active while you're moving it, it's really easy to get the hang of and do very often, it's so reliable it feels like a real game feature lol

screams of mass destruction
this one is absurdly overpowered and broken, this makes the game so easy, that you could AFK and beat the game after you set this up, if there werent ranged enemies
now, what you do to activate it, is you take any item that a scream can connect to, that also has 2 inputs, connect your scream module to it, then connect a muscle to your "weapon" in the image below, i used thorns, and to your scream module, then move the muscle around over and over, every time it reconnects, the "weapon" will be larger, i have not found a limit on how big it can get.
