Prelimiary step ( step0 ) :
Make sure that the FaceRig Virtual Audio driver is installed

First of all you should already have working copies of Skype and Facerig installed.

In order to use the voice effects that Facerig comes with Skype (or other streaming software) you will need to install the FaceRig Virtual Audio Driver.
When you install FaceRig, Steam will also install the FaceRig Virtual Microphone driver. You will need this. In case you've declined the installation, you can find this in [steam Library folder ]\ FaceRig\Bin\prerequisites\FaceVirtualMicDriver\

Install the Windows 8 version on Windows 8 or windows 10.
Install the Windows 7 version on windows 7.

Setting up the Virtual Cable app
1. In the Advanced interface of FaceRig you need to set as sound output Speakers(FaceRig Virtual Audio Driver)
2. In the Sound tab from General settings (cogwheel icon) toggle ON sound loopback (but only after step 1, otherwise you might create an audio feedback loop).
It is advisable to turn this off once the broadcast session has ended.
3. In the Chat client settings (ooVoo, Skype, Hangouts etc) you need to select as microphone FaceRig Virtual Microphone (instead of their real microphone)

This is the way to route sound through FaceRig and use voice effects.

Special care must be paid to the sound loopback option, if sound loopback is activated when the audio output is set to something else than Speakers(FaceRig Virtual Audio Driver), the audio speakers can end up damaged by the audio feedback loop if your volume is too loud.

I been having problems with voice changer with popping sounds that sound like i am far away when it used to sound closer and clear! i only have one mic and this never used to do this to me and it's different for me now ?

I tried to get this to work on OBS Studio for 4 hours without luck. But I have the Basic Facerig. Do I have to buy an advanced version? ty

I can't find the speakers(Facerig Virtual Audio Driver) in the settings so I think its not installed but how can I install it

I did all the steps above, but when I speak I don't hear anything (I have sound loopback on)
Am I doing something wrong? is this happening because I don't have a webcam?? I have a perfectly fine mic

Also when I skype using the mic setting to facerig nothing changes

Hello Stumpy.

VBcable is the old 3'rd party solution for sound routing.
You can of course still use that if you like it, it is free after all, but now we have a native FaceRig Virtual Microphone driver that does the same thing that VB cable did, (and that's why VBcable driver no longer auto installs).
