Popis
In Build 42, keys no longer spawn on doors. However, the logic for obtaining keys from doors remains intact. Therefore, this mod has been updated to be compatible with Build 42 in case door key spawning is reintroduced in the future. It's difficult to check the implementation frequently, so if you can confirm that spawn on the door have been restored with this mod for B42, please let me know!

Overview & Features :
Car keys spawn in the ignition, glove box, buildings near the vehicle, on the ground, and on zombies, but there is also a low probability that they will spawn on the "vehicle door". However, when it spawns on a vehicle door, there is no way to confirm that it has spawned, and it seems that the key can only be retreived under certain conditions.

Therefore, this mod will add the feature to automatically retrieve the keys from the door and notify the player with a message when the player attempts to enter a vehicle whose keys are spawned on the door, regardless of the conditions.
Confirmed to work with Build 41/42 and also work on MP.

Q&A :
  • What is the probability of a key spawning on a vehicle door?
    It is 1/4 probability compared to the spawn to the glove box. Of course, spawning keys on the door is not a feature of this mod, but of vanilla. This mod only reteives keys that have already spawn on the door.

  • Is it possible to retrieve the key from the door without using this mod?
    Yes, it's possible. If a key is spawned on the door, it can be retrieved when trying to enter through a locked door. However, there is no notification, and the key is only silently added to your inventory.

  • Do I need to try entering through every door to retrieve the key from the door?
    No, as long as the key is spawned on the door of that car, the key can be retrieved by entering through any door.

  • Does it work even if it's enabled in the middle of the save data? Or do I need a new game?
    This mod makes it easier to get keys spawned on doors, rather than having them spawned on doors. Therefore, a new game is not required.

Options :
These options are available with Mod Options in B41.
  • Finding Message Notification : Can specify whether to enable or disable.
  • Sound Volume (Found) : You can adjust the sound volume when you find the key on the door.

The devs gotta fix this mechanic. At least make it so the key actually appears on the loot window when you get close to the door that has the key.

I've been testing out the bandits week one mod, so locked doors are kinda everywhere unless i find keys on the floor, but when I get bored with it ill start testing car keys with this mod

Could you move the key symbold that appears over the character when standing next to a unlocked vehicle just a little bit further up? You can't see the first half of the progress bar on interactions. It's especially annoying when you're looking to fill a massive gas tank and you have no clue how far the progress got until it reaches half. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, the key no longer spawns on the door in B42, but let's hope that spec is restored in the future.
