This may be the final major version of this patch.
Sometime between 9686916 (circa April 28th 2025) and 9708323 (ca May 25th 2025), Valve completely broke steam-chat dot com's ability to connect to the Valve server network when running under FriendsUI. Furthermore, significant chunks of user interface interop code for FriendsUI appear to have been removed.
Fixing these issues, let alone just diagnosing them, looks to be extremely expensive. Unless someone wants to sponsor a $10000 effort to get them fixed, CLSTAMP 9686916 will probably be the final snapshot of steam-chat dot com upon which this patch is based.
As a result, v6.x.x will probably be the final major version of this patch. Minor version updates to this 9686916 base will likely be the only way to maintain compatibility and resolve issues as time goes on.
Very different kind of client modification compared to this one. It probably(?) won't work anymore due to all the additional changes Valve has made in the last 1.5 years, so something similar to this patch would have to be done instead.
