The first and most important step is to take some time finding and choosing a few avatars that represent you or the things you enjoy.

If you're like me, who has no 3D modeling skills or experience to make my own avatars, you can visit different avatar worlds to find avatars that are publicly available.

To make finding the right avatar easier, I'd recommend visiting a world called "Prismic's Avatar Search". It just saves a lot of time.

Exploring a wide variety of worlds is a big part of this game and can be quite exciting. There are themed worlds out there for everyone. Don't be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone and see what other places have to offer.

Something I didn't think of doing the first time I played was setting a home world. It's really nice to open the game and start exactly where you want to. Go out there, look through worlds, find a place that makes you comfortable and set that as your home world.

Take your interests and hobbies. Put them into the worlds search bar. You are almost guaranteed to find people with the same interests as you. You just have to look in the right places. It might take a few tries, but it will be worth it when you find people you can relate to and have full-on conversations with.

Remember: Never be scared to be yourself! If someone doesn't like you for the way you are, don't blame yourself. Just move to the next person and try again.

Visit some social hangout worlds and see what people are up to. Make some friends while you're at it.

Join public games or play them privately with your friends.

If somebody gives you constructive criticism, try to be open to it so that you can better yourself overall. It doesn't hurt to take in feedback on how you make others feel around you. This does not apply to a-holes, though. When the day comes that somebody is dedicated to making you upset by insulting or bullying you, simply mute them. If they start getting in the way of your fun, you have the easy option of blocking them. Don't let trolls tear you down.
