Southern Hive Fugitives

Adds randomly-spawning recruits to the southern hive territory.

Southern hivers are some of the most unlikely recruits to find in Kenshi, but most attempts to remedy this seem to simply throw more of them out into the world. That works, but I wanted to experiment with modding by making them more confined to their homeland.

Fugitive Drones will occasionally spawn in the Royal Valley and Greyshelf. I would have liked to make them rarer, but my options were limited without changing the vanilla spawn rates.
A fugitive can be a worker, a prince, or a soldier, with soldiers being the rarest.

If a fugitive sees you, they will beg for your help. You can turn them down if you want, but doing so will leave them to their fate of being treated as an enemy of the hive.

There is no special challenge to trigger their recruitment, you simply agree to help them. It may be a little too easy, but that's for you to decide.

They can be a little difficult to spot on their own, as well, but I’m glad the mod is still useful.
If you play with Hives Expanded, I also uploaded a diplomacy addon which has the added feature of ronin recruits wandering some biomes outside the hive. You may find them easier to recruit, although they charge cats for it.

Brilliant mod that should've been in the base game. I do have trouble finding these recruits, however. Either the spawns are more infrequent than the description led me to believe or the recruits are just being killed by patrolling droneguards too quickly. Very rarely do recruits approach me as I typically find them by seeing floating damage numbers and investigating the source. Nonetheless a must-have mod.

thank you, I shall attempt to do that my good sir

Yes, you can use this mod’s file to see how to do the same thing. First you need to find it in Steam’s workshop folders (find Kenshi’s number ID and the numbers from this page’s URL) then you can move this mod to the mod folder in Kenshi’s own files and rename the numbers into the proper mod file name - that should let the modding tool recognize and open it.

You would have to do the same with the mod for primordial hivers, and make a new mod that has primordials as a dependency. From there, you can look at mine and see what you need to do to make the same kind of recruitable hivers.

Is there a way that I could create/edit this mod to also make there a chance to spawn primordial Hivers?

Taking inspiration is fine with me, I'm glad the mod was able to provide some ideas in that sense.

Hey Pico! Love your mod, just wanted to let you know I took inspiration from this one to add similar lost drones to my hive mod. I wrote my own dialogue, have half the spawn rate by doubling the vanilla roaming squad odds, slightly different zones, and different ratios of soldier/worker/princes. If you have any issues with that let me know and I'll gladly change or remove it.

Learning blender and a texture program so I can add leather variants to the hives expanded armor, but good lord is that a slow process. 3D artists are impressive.

ooh I found the add-on. I'll give it a try. Thank you!

If you are familiar with using the FCS, you can open my mod and find the fugitive character. Their race chances will be in the character info.
On the other hand, I uploaded an addon for Hives Expanded not long ago that has more recruitable southern hivers if you're interested in it. I gave the soldiers a closer chance in that.

Hmmm I'm attempting a Southern hive playthrough and I need more soldiers and workers, I've had Princes spawn 5 times in a row when travelling around greyshelf and the royal valley. May I ask where in the FCS did you edit the spawn chance for them?
