There's meows outside
And the kitties scratch on my walls
There's a cat outside
With a long coat, grey fur, smoking his zaza

Now the meow fades out
And I wonder what I was doing with a cat like that
There's a meow at the door...
And just for a second I thought I remeombered you

So now I'm alone
Now I can think for myself
About little cats and kitties
And meows that I just don't understand
Like the purring in bed
Or a sly meow at times...
I don't think I meant anything to you

theres a flap at the door
It's the 'kitten' that I'd left in the garden
'Please sit down'
A litterbox rustles at the wall near the bed

You know I hate to ask
Why are 'kittens' precious?

Mine's just died.

And now I've... no-one to love...
