In the year 2500, or Universal Century 0080, humanity had advanced primarily through the development of biology in order to venture into space.

They decide to use their technology based on the belief that humanity should rule not the earth, but the wider sea of stars.

Thus was created the “Laplaceeee's Box,” which was nothing less than a declaration of humanity's new covenant, free from the shackles of gravity, religion, and ethnicity.

As countless drugs and mutations unfolded, the world began to leave Earth, stepping into space with the hope of becoming a new humanity, the animals destined to be the new humans.

At the end of the balance's time, Project Scyphozoa (Moonpie)—the finest specimen among countless test subjects and the ancestor of the current Moonjelly—is unveiled to the world.

Some people couldn't accept these creatures that looked like “flying, pulling gelatin junk food,” causing a few disturbances, but time soon calmed their anger.

Project Scyphozoa (Moonpie), which was obedient to many people and offered much advice, was placed in every household across multiple planets and adapted to life under gravity without incident for a while.

In the year 3500, Universal Century 0344, the Bazi faction, an organization operating in secret, seized power through unconventional means, outmaneuvering various other factions. They proclaimed “Snoid Supremacy,” which deemed Jellyfish as useless tools to society, and decided to scrap all Project Scyphozoa (Moonpie).

However, when some humans attempted to scrap Project Scyphozoa (Munpai), which had been like family to them, many took up arms in resistance, ushering in the First Great Human Cataclysm.

The concept of the Mobile Suit—a maneuver-specialized, power-driven enhanced armor developed as the first step in the space strategy advocated by Gihren Bazi—emerged, radically transforming the nature of space warfare.

Regrettably, caught between these two forces, the Project Scyphozoa (Moonpies) all acquiesced as slaves to the conflict, watching as the fight itself gradually lost its purpose.

In the year 3600, Universal Century 0444, after the agony of a century-long war—the so-called Hundred Years' War—the Zeon Federation, effectively named after Prime Minister Gihren Bazi, and the Principality of Earth agreed to a settlement.

The proposal to let these so-called Project Scyphozoa projects stand on their own was adopted.

Project Scyphozoa has evolved into a distinctly different species from humans, possessing limbs unlike its predecessors and propelling itself using bodily gas.

They were all brimming with confidence, believing themselves to be the first new humanity to escape the swamp of gravity. As they gathered together, the shock descended upon them all—realizing that their collective will and the accumulated thoughts they had cultivated over time had formed this unity.

That day, they were filled to the brim with color.

In the year 3713, Universal Century 0557, long after the Miracle had ended, Project Scyphozoa had already matured into the sentient entity known as ‘Moonjelly’. However, it was from this point onward that it formally established a small, humanitarian oligarchic nation.

Under the name Lunazel, it nurtured itself through a unique system unseen in other civilizations.

Due to the inherent nature of the Moonjellies, they were under attack from various quarters and in a highly vulnerable state. As a command, they were reinforced.



Comet Spirit “Charang azurunablur”—they called themselves comets, devising unconventional mobile suit tactics they termed ‘restraint’ to strike fear into all. They proclaimed this very restraint was communication itself, and thus brought success.

All Moonjellies worship and believe in medicine. Every concept must be thought of in terms of medicine.

They were originally designed in the Echo as creatures to heal mankind, but their bodies have changed after a long struggle.

Their head umbrellas, which help them swim, became fixed, allowing them to wear helmets, and their tentacles, which once produced anesthetics, became a means of attack to disorient opponents in close quarters.

Despite such changes, the Moonjellyworld is still praised as an excellent self-contained hospital world, a paradise for all the sick and hurt.

In the year 5500, moongellies are thriving in many star systems, and even in the fringe worlds, their tendencies are well known: the wicked will use them, and the good will find them adorable.

...or they might take a direct hit from the mass attack of their space-colony.
