you must build the boat and he will ask you if you want to finish any unfinished business and you say that you arent ready

There must be more to triggering it than what OP and the fandom page describe, because despite having the boat parts (with access to the option to build it) I can't start the event by resting at the campfire

For those willing to help me try figuring it out, here's the state of my file (at least what I think might be relevant):
1. Pain mode
2. Joyless, though I also tried using joy without apparent impact
3. Chose to spare companion and lose left arm
4. Chose to spare 3 companions and lose inventory
5. Chose to keep right arm
6. Chose to spare Sticky and Rick
7. No devil machine
8. Only party I've attempted it with is Brad, Bo, Birdie, Mad Dog

If anyone can think of something I'm missing LMK
