The Great Tarantula Race (Mostly Vanilla)

Have you ever wondered who the great tarantula was? Well, that is a mystery, you will have to wait! But in the meantime grab your friends, grab your welders, drills, and grinders, and head on out for the engineering race of your life!

Keep your cool this isn't all fun and games; there are dangerous perils in the deep underground. But that's not all; On The Great Tarantula Race you will travel to every known world in the system! However, you don't need to, strictly speaking, land on the surface of every one of them. But you can if you want to just to say you did.

Experience the adventure of your life in this thrilling space saga. You may just come across a few mysteries or Easter eggs along the way. Well, good luck with that, and we promise fireworks at the end, at least for the winning side. So if you were on the losing side... well if you made it to task 8 at least, then sit back on a comfy couch and enjoy the show and eat some popcorn.

Some important bits

If you find a zone chip it is likely important so don't lose any or go throwing them away!
Also, don't praise Clang, he doesn't care either way, that turdface!

Mods - It's a vanilla-like mod

This mod just adds custom-made prefabs spawn with the following antenna name spawn groups!
Names:

  • Calling Little Tancendent Saberoid

Requirements

I pushed space engineers to the max so you will need a good computer (at least better than mine)
It is meant to be a race between two groups of up to four people in each group. But you can play with two players. You can also solo, but the lobby requires two buttons to activate so just join one faction and then re-spawn in the other faction after pressing the ready button. Then the rest of the scenario can be played the same.

  • A red ATV Survivor (modified)
  • A blue ATV Survivor (modified)
  • Data Container 1 from triton (Frostbite)
  • Data Container 2 from triton (Frostbite)
  • Data Container 3 from triton (Frostbite)
  • Data Container 4 from triton (Frostbite)
  • Some Damaged Data Containers (Also from Frostbite)
  • Vacuum Drone (frostbite)
  • Sections of the Blue Ambassador (with some wear and tear)
  • All other creations are my own :D

Bugs or Issues
if you find any let me know. I tried to have it as polished as I could!

The new remove terrain feature for drills makes the tunneling down more enjoyable ;)

The location for the base on Triton is in the most obvious place! If you didn't find it it is because you either forgot to look in the freight container right before you went into the ship. Or because you don't know that you need to click on the local inventory when looking in freight containers. But yes it is not a problem of the scenario but an issue with the clunkiness of the inventory interface in space engineers.

So again: Landing platform freight container. It is the only freight container there. It is right next to the sign that says TASK 3 & 4 in the largest font that would fit the size of the screen.

So I finally finished task 2, and I'm on to task 3, but I don't understand where I'm supposed to go. The data pad told me where to go to get the ship , but it didn't tell me where the Base on Triton was supposed to be

I haven't played it with the most recent update, but I am sure it is the same. The reason it is set to that depth is for two reasons. One, is to allow the opposing team time to try and sabotage the drill by dropping warheads down the hole or what have you. And two, to not fake the space, giving you a sense of going down really deep. But in hindsight, I think 5km would have been better.

Not a bug that is part of the scenario. Also, the drill-down part is supposed to be long even with using the right-click option. I destroyed my drill at first too. But it is possible to make it down without a single bit of damage as of the automations update, You get better at aiming the drill the more you try it.

The "Begin Task 2" button just starts it. You need a bit of stone to add some mass to the rig in order to stabalize the drill and it keeps the drill rig from tipping over to far as all the stone is at the bottom. Makes the center of gravity lower.

Found a small bug I think at spider in Task 2. I found the "Turn on turrets.." button and went to setup actions and was able to change it to do other things. Perhaps it was intended. But I was able to use that to turn on the medical room I couldn't figure out how to turn on as well as disable several of the turrets including the one at the final room with the zone chips

My friends and I started this last night, pretty fun and creative so far

We are currently at the drill part and it's been a mixed experience. the default mode is incredibly slow, like it would take many hours to get to 10km at that rate, but the right click caused massive damage to the vehicle with just a couple drops. We spent some time repairing and continuing with right click with mostly success (and random things exploding) but the thing at about 9km the remaining bits randomly exploded and we all died but also my game crashed from all the explosions so we'll continue tonight from wherever the last save was but I feel like I'm missing something with getting down to the cavern entrance. I started playing on a creative map trying to figure out how to reduce that harsh drop but haven't come up with a great solution yet though I think the answer is more tires.

That was Absolutely GORGEOUS... Best scenario, I ever played !!! Despite the fact that I died ALOT !!!
