Introduction
  • Walk across the bridge towards Vesta's farm
  • 10:00 am and 7:00 pm
  • Spring 2 or later
  • Any weather
Vesta asks how you're doing with your farm work, and if you ever need any help with the farm, you can rely on her and her little brother, Matthew. Vesta leaves and lets Matthew alone with you. He is annoyed because he hates smalltalk (and talking to people).
2-Heart Event
  • Enter Vesta's house
  • Matthew has at least 2 hearts
  • Matthew is inside Vesta's house
  • You have seen the Introduction event
After you enter the house, Matthew tries to start some small talk. Ask him about his hobbies and tell him you like crops too for max. affection.
4-Heart Event (2x)
1. Event
  • Exit Vesta's house
  • 7:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Sunny weather only
  • Matthew has at least 4 hearts of affection
  • Matthew is NOT inside Vesta's house
  • You have seen the 2-heart event
2. Event (Rival Event?)
  • Exit the farm storage shed on Vesta's farm
  • 7:00 am to midnight
  • Sunny weather
  • Summer, Autumn, or Winter season
1.
You see Matthew outside by the fields and go talk with him. Tell him "It's okay" and don't laugh at him for max. affection.

2.
Matthew thinks Cecilia has fallen in love with somebody. He seems to be jealous.
6-Heart Event
  • Walk across the bridge towards Vesta's farm
  • 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Sunny weather
  • Autumn or Winter season
  • Matthew has at least 6 hearts of affection
  • You have seen the 4-heart event
Cecilia and Matt are standing near the river and talk. Suddenly Cecilia doesn't look so well and goes home. Matt and you are alone and start talking. He starts by asking how you like it here in the valley. Tell him "It's good" for max. affection.
8-Heart Event
  • Walk towards the windmills from the direction of Vesta's house
  • (I've seen this trigger when exiting the farm storage shed)
  • 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Sunny weather
  • Autumn or Winter season
  • Matthew has at least 8 hearts of affection
  • You have seen the 6-heart event
You see Matthew standing by himself out by the windmills. He isn't in the mood for a conversation and asks that you leave him alone. Tell him that his health will get better. Then choose the option to not leave.
Proposal & Post-Proposal Event
Proposal
  • Give Matthew the Blue Feather
  • Matthew has at least 8 hearts of affection
He accepts your blue feather and tells you he intends to continue working on his sister's farm.

Post-Proposal Event
  • Exit your farm house
  • 6:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • You are engaged to be married to Matthew in Chapter 2
Matt and you walk through town. In the end you two have a little talk at the beach where he asks if you are okay with supporting each other in marriage. Choose whatever option you like.

Do you have too many hearts with someone else or has Nami or Molly, for example, confessed their love to you? If you have too many hearts with someone else and they have confessed their love to you, you will be blocked from all heart events. :cqhealth:

I only had the Rival Event happen for me for the 4 heart event, and I have 6 hearts with Matthew but it won't trigger the 6 heart event. Anyone know why?

That is one of the rival events :) there are rival events for Matt&Ceci, Gustafa&Nami and Lumina&Rock... I have recorded and uploaded them on Youtube. Check them out if you want to see all rival events. Some of them are quite interesting... :portiallama:

Hi! I want to let you know that I've seen what might be another event for Matt (or it might be for Ceci...? It included them both).

These are my notes that I had when it happened:

Matthew @ 7 Hearts
Exit the barn into the field at 10:00 AM (could be any building but not sure)
Autumn Season

Matt and Ceci are at your farm by the field fence and have a talk. Ceci leaves, then Matt notices you watching from afar within the field. Matt talks about how he's been living with Ceci for a couple years now on Vesta's farm and saw her as a sister, but is now unsure if he's grown romantic feelings for her.

If it's important Ceci was at 3 hearts (I literally have not spoken to her and she still gets hearts... lord).
