1-Locate the Steam Shortcut
2-Right click on the Steam Shortcut
3-In the Popup menu click on "Proprieties"
4-The box that has "Target" at the start (below target location) click on the box and go to the end by pressing the right arrow key to make sure your on the far right
5-Press space-bar and type -vgui
it should look something like this steam.exe" -vgui
6-At the bottom of the window press Apply
7-Restart Steam
tiny side note. this will only alter that one steam link. if you access steam other ways, it will be back to normal

Go for linux mint and be free. Win7 is long gone and not supported by anything nowadays. Both steam and your games will receive better performance and support. It also has similar system requirements as win7.

strait up cant use windows 10 on my laptop cause how old it is. still use it to play game on win 7. mostly gog tho cause the steam bloatware, she is a ♥♥♥♥♥

You do know that most games coming out require Win8 or higher now, right? I'm with you! Win7 was peak WinOS. But not so well for gaming. Trust me. Win11 plus SSD drive for games is the best. Games i couldn't play, i can now! Lol. I'm running games that i shouldn't be able to.

this method no longer works. the one people use now is to fake run windows 7 so you get a locked in version of the steam launcher. im really running windows 7 tho :steamthumbsup:

when they 1st launched the new steam update it ate the ♥♥♥♥ out of your cpu. they have fixed a lot of the problems. the new UI still got a bunch of bugs and runs slower than the old one. the whole reason i liked steam was it was the least bloatwared launcher that gave you everything to run your game on highest settings. still running games on highest settings that i can, and ive locked in an older UI that uses far less resources from my pc to do so

I may be retarded cuz I see zero difference. I've never had issues with steam anyways. ppl saying it uses 20-40% of cpu? Right now, steam is using 6% of the 36% being used. XD same as usual.
