Strategy
1. Choose stages that have a lot of tiles and are easy to clear.
2. Go for high ranks, as rank bonuses grant a lot of points.
3. Keep your power meter at max when possible, 80 points per tile is really good.
4. You need to have an average score of 40,000 points per stage, so underperforming some stages is okay as long as you score more than 40,000 points in other stages.

  • 1-15
  • 2-9
  • 3-9
  • 4-2
  • 5-2
  • 6-7
  • 7-3
  • 8-4
  • 9-1

Here's another route that worked for me:
1-14 (V) ~43,000
2-9 (V) ~ 32,000
3-9 (V) ~46,000
4-7 (V) ~40,000
5-4 ~31,000
6-1 (V) ~37,000
7-5 ~29,000
8-1 (V) ~35,000
9-1 (V) ~77,000

to add on if anyone's struggling with the stages listed here, here's a route that worked for me to get 400k:
1-15
2-4
3-1
4-15
5-4
6-7
7-15
8-2
9-1
.. you obviously DON'T need 400k, but hey, it's cool

You unlock gauntlet by beating every stage in a single save file. It's a total of 136 stages.
