Also there is a program called moonlight that works flawlessly with one other person.

It uses nvidia gameshare api, but it directly links you to your friend. Parsec only works on widows 8+ (maybe windows 10 only?). But moonlight works on windows 7.

Skip Nvidia gameshare and this crap, just download Parsec. Takes seconds to set up, and it's really intuitive. Just add your friends on the app, click host, invite them, and start your game, everybody uses controllers on their end, and you're in and playing multiplayer with no noticeable lag. I've done it several times and it works wonders.
