The scenario has been created in such a way that players should come across relevant information in each location without too much trouble. Critical information is located on data-pads, which are usually found in lockers and on bodies, in fairly obvious locations during your journey.

The following walkthrough guide provides all the necessary links, GPS and other information should you miss something, you get stuck or simply want an early advance on information.

Introduction
The scenario is designed around the typical SE playthrough of starting on Earth, locating and gathering resources, establishing a base, before heading to space and the Moon for those rarer resources, then onward to Mars. The key factor making this scenario different from regular playthroughs, is the player must remain on Earth and explore the solar system via remote control.

While there will be foes to fight, lost things to be found, this is primarily an engineering challenge. There are built-in guidelines and limitations that create most of the scenario framework, but everything hasn’t been accounted for, but there are no hard and fast rules. Inevitably the player will be required to self-manage certain aspects of play to stay in line with the intent of the scenario, but also provides the opportunity to add other things, such as additional mods, to increase gameplay enjoyment.

Grid Management

There are several grids in this scenario and game performance could be an issue. One option is to delete some of the grids as you go. Neutral, SPRT and abandoned grids can be captured and/or ground down for salvage. UDDE and other friendly grids can be used if allowed, but not salvaged for components. Unwanted friendly grids should be removed from entity list or creative mode deletion.

There are also two UDDE economy stations, they are vanilla spawn stations that have been edited and a sub-grid added to prevent de-spawning. Removing this sub-grid from the entity list will likely cause the station to de-spawn when out of range and respawn as the basic vanilla version, possibly losing critical information.

Travel

The scenario intention is to limit atmospheric thrusters for on planet flight; hydrogen thrusters
for high altitude, orbital launches/landings, along with lunar missions; ion thrusters for interplanetary transits between Earth and Mars. Jump drives are part of the scenario, but not
intended to be built by the player.

Player can choose to fully utilise jetpack or use a no-jetpack mod. It is suggested to use jetpack, but limit long distance flight and using vehicles for such journeys instead.

Mined Resources

The scenario is intended to be played using resources mined at predetermined locations. The player should ignore ore detectors, boulders and vanilla ore distribution patterns, or preferably use the ‘Oreless Planets’ mod to remove the ores completely.

There is only a single large ore deposit placed in the game world for each of the mineral types. Clues will be given during exploration, enabling the player to find each mineral location, so that essentially ‘unlocking’ them becomes part of the story.

The placed ore deposits are large. It is unlikely that the player will deplete an entire deposit, but in the unlikely event it runs out, simply used voxels hands in creative mode to add more in. Locating and securing the mineral is part of the scenario, scarceness is not part of the challenge as there are no viable alternative sources.

Refining stone into basic materials is permitted and advised. It is anticipated that some basic refining facilities will be required off world, as none of the individual mineral ores exist in space or other planets (except Pt & Ur)

Earth Locations

This is a map I created in my playthrough, showing approximate locations of resources and bases. It is sized to fit 2 LCD screens high by 3 LCD screens wide, using SEImage2LCD conversion tool. The base map is a portion of a full Earthlike map created by Vox Serico .

To be upfront with the player, the end goal of this instalment of the scenario will be to gain the ability to jump to the Alien Planet, however actually going to and landing on this planet does not feature in this scenario. A future third instalment of the scenario is planned to conclude the story on the Alien world.
Homestead
Start Location that provide LCD's outlining the scenario and rules of engagement that are covered in this guide. It is esentially the game lobby, replicating the conclusion of Far From Home and preparing the player for the scenario. It is not intended to be salvaged, rather deleted from the entity list. The scenario starts proper when you drive down to the lake.

Use your salvage truck to travel to your first set of destinations. Terrain should be your only challenge during the initial journey, other adversaries will come later.
UDDE Primary Station

Managers Office
On the main display is an general explanation of the scenario objective.

The map on the console table provides approximate positions of Fe, Si, Ni, which are on the way to the Desert Outpost, and Co, which is in the opposite direction in the mountains.

Entering the office level will trigger a sensor that will unlock the doors throughout the rest of the station.

Quartermaster
The Quartermaster room contains tantalising array of shelving storage and cargo containers, all of which are not available to the player. Located in the locker are datapads which contain the required items to repair the Alien vessel on Mars.

Laboratory
The laboratory contains a medical station that the player can use to refuel, recharge and heal. There are also medical supplies in one of the lockers, along with three medical components, enabling construction of a survival kit.

The image on the console table is a clue to who the aliens are, this is not critical to the story at this stage.

Mineral Research
Console table is displaying a log of a scanner drone that has located a Uranium deposit on an asteroid and Platinum deposit on the Moon, where the drone has crashed. It has relayed a destress signal via the nearby IMWE station in lunar orbit. The log also indicates the relay pathway is recorded at the UDDE Communications Hub, which is where the GPS of the IMWE station is located. Sending a ship to the IMWE station will find the crash location and Platinum deposit. Retrieving the OreBot back to Earth will provide the location of the Uranium deposit.

A sampler selection of ores and tier 3 drill is located in one of the other lockers.

Research Library
There is a restricted section in a room in the corner. This contains copies the various data pads that you should come across during your journey in case you don’t locate them, or misplace them, or want an early advantage/cheat in the scenario.

Other lockers in the main room contain various useful information, including a LCD on the wall displaying GPS for Mars North Pole Orbit, where you will need to send a remote controlled ship. Note: the original upload has an error on the Mars diagram, the North and South GPS are transposed. The updated version can be identified by note in bottom corner 'v2 corrected'. The datapad in the restricted section is correct.

Abandoned Iron Mine

The abandoned iron mine has no ownership, so the player can either repair or salvage for components.

If choosing the repair option, there is a fueled hydrogen engine and unfinished refinery in the shed, with enough parts around the facility to scavenge for any additional blocks to make a start in the game.

There are deep pre-dug tunnels into the underground mine where there are vast deposits of accessible Iron ore.

  • GPS:Iron Deposit:-53920.96:8461.08:24932.76:
Nickel and Silicon Ice Lake Deposit
Significant Silicon ore is located under the ice at the northern arm of the ice lake. Up on a nearby slope overlooking the ice lake, is the Nickel deposit.

This ice lake is in a central position and a suggested location for the player to establish a main base.

  • GPS:Nickel Deposit:-58976.09:105.71:17103.72:
  • GPS:Silicon Deposit:-59182.36:-1815.26:14029.13:
UDDE Desert Outpost

UDDE Desert Outpost has a landing pad separating a operations pod and habitation pod. This outpost is being used by "mineral research" and there is evidence, including a damaged rover, of run in's with nearby space pirates.
Operations Pod key points:
  • Entering the operations pod will unlock the habitation pod
  • Store and contracts blocks fully functional
  • Map on the table show approximate location of Gold and Silver ore deposits
  • Various logs with useful information are in the locker
  • One log further points the player towards Cobalt being at the Alpine Communications Hub
Habitation Pod
  • Body of mineral researcher John Van Nostrand Dorr
  • Log explains run in's with nearby Space Pirates
  • Medkit able to be used by player

The various logs hint at locations, bearings, defenses and other info for nearby ores and SPRT activities.
There is a Ore Scannerbot parked at the rear of the outpost. Activate it by pressing the button and it will launch and travel to a near by Magnesium deposit and activate a beacon when it gets there.

  • GPS:UDDE - Desert Outpost:-60167.69:-5323.62:8453.46:
Magnesium Ore Deposit

By activating the Ore ScannerBot located at the UDDE Desert Outpost, it will travel to this deposit and activate a location beacon.

All magnesium is on the surface and easily accessible.

  • GPS:Magnesium Deposit:-55983.32:-23862.91:756.37:
UDDE Alpine Communications Hub and Cobalt Mine

Arriving at the Communications Hub, you find multiple damaged antennas and a dead engineer.

Searching the lockers and screens, show indications of a broken network and various datapad logs. Amongst the logs, is a signal relay pathway log, showing the GPS for the IWME Lunar Station, which is near to the platinum deposit and in range of the OreBot destress beacon. Sending a ship to the IMWE station will find the crash location and Platinum deposit. Retrieving the OreBot back to Earth will provide the location of the Uranium deposit.

Antennas and Communications hub are not intended to be salvaged, repaired or used. The player should source their own resources to make an independent antenna network.

There are two large Cobalt deposits located a short distance inside the pre-dug mine.

  • GPS:Alpine Communication Hub & Cobalt Mine:-41638.24:40351.68:33506.33:
SPRT Infiltrated Gold Mine

The Gold mine has been infiltrated by Space Pirates, there is a shack on a prominent rocky outcrop and the mine itself in the canyon below.

The shack is protected by three gatling guns and a antenna that will spawn drones when approached by the player, either Drifting Pursuant, Spiteful Aggressor, or Stinging Adversary.

In the canyon is the entrance to the Gold mine. Enter via the long access tunnel and switch on the generator at the top of the main shaft. There are multiple interior turrets inside you will need to defeat.

For story immersion, this set play is designed to be completed with head torch turned off, using the mine lighting only and dealing with the turrets using rifle (no grinder).

Once the mine has been captured, there are significant Gold deposits located in the multiple branching tunnels. The former SPRT infrastructure can be salvaged or claimed.

  • GPS:Gold Deposit:-57192.04:-4089.29:-16279.17:
SPRT Silver Mining Outpost
Space Pirates have built a significant and heavily defended mining outpost. Two antennas will spawn multiple drones, there are also exterior gatling guns and missile launches, along with interior turrets.

After capturing the facility, the player can either plunder, salvage or repair the station, including using it to mine for the silver deep under the ice. There are significant resources in storage and built into the infrastructure.

  • GPS:Silver Deposit:-57228.7318:21201.1850:-1340.1492:
Lunar Platinum Deposit

Once the player reaches the IGWE Station in lunar orbit, the intermittent beacon from a Ore ScannerBot will be in range, showing the location of the Platinum ore deposit. The ScannerBot will need to be ferry back to Earth, so the scan log can be removed from it's cargo container. The scan log will reveal the location of a Uranium asteroid.

  • GPS:Platinum Deposit:12491.3840:127984.6947:-112148.554:
  • Game bug: - The Orebot on the moon can run out of power depending on how long it takes the player to get there. The station in lunar orbit is in range of a beacon that flashes up every 30 seconds, so longer than that and it's probably flat.
Uranium Asteroid
Location of asteroid obtained from lunar Ore ScannerBot scan logs. There are many deposits of uranium across the surface of the asteroid clusters. The asteroid is in slight gravity and above directly open terrain suitable for landing drop pods.

  • GPS:Uranium Deposit:-96973.25:5037.87:-1185.92:
UDDE Mars Orbital Relay

Once the player reaches the Martian orbital north pole (GPS obtained from Library in UDDE primary Station), the UDDE Relay Station beacon should intermittently show on the HUD approx. 4km away.

The relay station is significantly damaged and not accessible remotely. Using a drone with camera to look through the window, a message on a screen reveals the crew fled to the Mars Research Facility, with GPS co-ordinates shown.

  • GPS:UDDC - Mars Orbital Relay:1035483.68:30803.95:1630626.27:
  • note - the relay belongs to UDDE and can not be salvaged by the player. To save PCU, this grid could be deleted out of the entity list after visiting.
UDDE Mars Research Station
Upon reaching the research station, the player will discover escape pods from the relay station, one successfully landed, one not. note - these grids are for decoration and not required for the story and could be deleted from the entity list if PCU count is an issue

The mission will be to repair and reconnect the hydrogen pipeline, there are multiple problems along the 24 segments preventing Hydrogen fuel reaching the research station from the fuel plant on top of the hill. There are merge blocks in the landing pad so that you can merge a projector to the grid.

1. gather and drop into collectors ice to process into hydrogen.
2. remove old broken pipeline embedded in ground and use a projector to replace missing blocks from segments #1 & #2.
3. repair broken and incomplete conveyor/hinges on segments #3 - #22.
4. reinstate disconnected pipe segment #23 & #24, the 3 detached hinges are the only ones available to control in the control panel.

Once hydrogen is able to get into the station, the station will automatically power up and be accessible (there is an event controller linked capacity on a hydrogen tank hidden underground at the end of the pipeline). The hidden small hydrogen tank needs to be 10% full to trigger, it should work, if it doesn't recheck you pipeline to make sure all the hinges and conveyors are fully repaired.

The outer doors can be opened by pressing the big red button. The button stand has a sensor field around it, which will activate when triggered by a small ship or sub-grid. The second internal door is damaged and will require repair.

Once inside, there is a industrial elevator that will drop the player down into the dig site. In the artifact room, there is a connector which will allow players to access the inventories and review the various research logs, including the location of the Beta research site.
