In order to finish the first level, you need to solve the very first puzzle in the game. It's not hard once you "get it", but it might be a bit hard to know what is required without a bit of exploration. If you don't have time for that, just follow these steps.

• Notice there's a stage coach blocking the path.
  
• Go back and climb to the 2nd balcony of the yellow building
  
• Jump right onto a fort tower, where a coin is standing.
  
• Move to the cannon and use your action button (default: space)
  
• Go back down and the coach is no more.
  
• Jump over the ravine and find yourself on a lower path.
  
• Just go right until the boss animation starts.

There's a very first secret area in this level. If you're not in the mood to explore yourself, I'll tell you where and how to find it. Just follow these quick steps:

• When the game starts go left instead of right.
  
• Kill the parrot and proceed.
  
• Jump over the well, kill the pirate.
  
• Approach the well from the left and jump in under the roof.
  
• Congratz! Don't let the frogs kill you.

By finishing this level properly you can get the following achievements:

Unmissable:

• Observant
  
• A star is born

Optional:

• Flawless - finish the level without losing any lives
  
• Wait you can do that - jump on a bullet

Only possible with upgrades on a later run

• Booty - open a chest
  
• Shiny - collect all the coins in the level
