Introduction
Adding (or emulating) scanlines often enhances the readability of pixel text and makes pixel art more visually appealing. Additionally, it imparts a nostalgic retro aesthetic to the game.

Tutorial
If you wish to add scanlines to the game, do the following:
  1. Download ReShade[reshade.me]. Follow the installer's instructions to install it into the Goblin and Coins II directory:
    • On the game selection screen choose Goblin and Coins II ("A 2D pixelart platformer game by Nikola Bulj (gnc2.exe)").
    • On the rendering api selection screen choose "DirectX 10/11/12".
    • On the effect selection screen check "RSRetroArch by Matsilagi" to open its shader list, and check the "CRTGeom.fx" shader.

  2. Launch the game and press Home to bring up the ReShade Configuration Overlay. Enable the GeomCRT shader by ticking the checkbox next to it.

  3. Select GeomCRT to reveal its parameters below. Set the following values (for a 1080p resolution):
    Screen Width = 640 Screen Height = 360 Frame Width = 1920 (or 640) Frame Height = 360 Corner Size = 0.001 Dot Mask Toggle = 0.0 Luminance Boost = 0.50
    If you prefer a sharper image, you can increase the 'Sharpness' parameter to either 2 or 3.

That's it! Once you've set all the necessary values, you can check the 'Performance Mode' checkbox for a slight performance boost.
