You can view the video comparing walking with the dodge + attack method. Dodging forward will move you in that direction significantly and attacking right after will cancel some of the stopping animation to allow you to jump forward again to quickly get around. You can do this with spear users, but it is a bit faster with sword users and what I would recommend.

It does not matter which character or creature you use, they're all the same. The only thing that matters is the type of weapon they use.

Please note that in areas full of monsters, you will be jumping towards enemies after pressing the attack button with this method.
