Intro
[Alpha 2 update- This technique no longer works for user controlled ships due to blocked outputs, however it still seems to work for AI driven ships.]

Tired of being creatively stifled?

Have some cool ship design but can't find a place to fit those pesky guns, engines, and other externally facing facilities?

Want to build a triangular, round, sawtooth, or other bizarre hull shape, while maintaining desired point defenses?

THEN HAVE I GOT A THING FOR YOU!
Step 1
Design, create, and set up your internal ship layout.
(Note: a queued item=a constructed item, there's no need to wait for everything to be fully installed to continue, as far as I'm aware.)
Step 2
Design your overhanging section(s), and apply.
Step 3
Mask off your hull overhangs.
(Your hull overhang needs to be surrounded by hull in order to make the outer edges floor, but the surrounding hull surprisingly doesn't need to be constructed to achieve the desired result.)
Step 4
Make your overhang into floor, and apply your outer walls.

This doesn't have to be precise.
Step 5
Remove your hull masking, inspect and apply.
Step 6
Add armor to taste, tweak if needed, and enjoy!
Limitations
There are some limitations in trying to build with this technique, mainly the fact that;
Diagonal hull pieces exist only as wall pieces, and when made into a floor, they default to square hull pieces. So don't bother with trying to make your hull overhang smooth, it doesn't currently work. Just consider it balance so your foe has a chance to spot any unsavory, hidden, recessed guns you might be sporting.
