As Syrvania rushed to exploit the breakthroughs at Kitter Moer and Praegan, beginning their dash to the river Zlowiće across the open farmlands of Urdow province, the Hettic Home Army was thrown into disarray. Central Staff would not receive news of the breakthroughs until many days afterward, with many guard regiments still convinced that Hetland was preparing for a counterattack in the west. Nevertheless, initiative by local garrison commanders saw effective defenses muster at key points along major roads and rail lines. These would not be enough to stop Syrvanian forces from reaching the Zlowiće, with some elements getting as far as Ćerzieg Bridge as early as the 23rd, but it was hoped that enough guard regiments could organize themselves to cut these salients off, or at least slow them until regional command could formulate a proper response.
