In vanilla CoH tanks and infantry take too little damage. Getting a damage reduction when retreating for example is fine, but it feels like it's -80% damage received. Retreating should be more like only -60% damage received, so you can still actually destroy units with overwhelming firepower.
And the general TTK should be reduced (accuracy/damage increased). Both together (reduced TTK, and less damage reduction when retreating) made mods in older CoH2 games so much better than vanilla.
So does this reduce TTK?
i did submit bug reports to relic so maybe that fixed it? idk.
The modders Arent toxic by nature, were bitter because we are told that relic is listening and supports us, then turns around and chops off our hands. Or lynches us from a Beam and says "were supporting you by giving you something with 1/100th of what the previous games tools had"
We CONSTANTLY submit detailed bug reports for thousands of issues. And relic takes 3-5 months to release tiny nothing patches that dont address any of the issues 95% of the time.
We have OCEANS of units and content we want to see added and relic gives us only half a DLC with 1 new commander for only 2 out of 4 armies, but asks for $18 for it.
Their is TONS Of interesting stuff in the games backend files that could be polished and brought into MP but isnt getting touched.
(Tin Foil hat theory Warning):: the last 20 years of us modders making a better polished game than relic made, doing it quicker and doing it for free probably got under their skin so they designed a system of Pseudo mod support to make modders look sloppy and bad.
Just Look at my coh2 version for example, or the All units mod made by sneakeye (which is much more than the name implies). those are very polished. sure you might find the occasional bug in them that the dev missed, but if reported they get fixed quickly.
so my advice is enjoy the mod as much as you can and work around the bugs you find.
Keep reporting the bugs you find to me and if its something i can fix i will fix it quickly.
I appreciate the bug reports and i wish to god relic would let me fix these things (thats the worst part, i know how to fix 95% of this and i could just ask other modders for the other 5%, but we don't have the access we use to as modders). Cuz coh3 modding tools aren't really tools. they are a crappy archive viewer. if this was coh1 id have full access to everything and i could make a better game than relic did. Even coh2 let me do 800-1200x more things than coh3 does. If coh3 had just what coh2 did with the level of access and mod-ability, id have most of this stuff fixed already and the modded version of the game would be 10000x more polished than default is today a year later. but we dont.
Ive actually been kicking around the idea of abandoning coh3 because of these issues. it makes me look bad when relic screws shit up and doesn't give me the access to fix things that need fixed, especially if the base game has it working.
yeah again sadly that's another problem with these jank/useless tools. Relic came in and fixed a bunch of back end stuff in the base game that isnt porting over to mods. To make matters worse the tools arent getting updated, so the tools are sitting here saying "Hey ur using the default version of the files. or everything is the same as default, were A-ok" When clearly its NOT the same or ok..
Examples breach and artillery abilities not working in mods. selection and pathing issues, units not aiming properly, the 250 halftrack Infantry Hold not working in mods if you have a copy of the EBPS. Aircraft not getting their proper bomb drop animations or flight path animations.
