An Incomplete Guide To the Alaskan Wilderness

So yeah the guide is incomplete and terrible, so sorry for that. but better than nothing which is what I had to go with but now you can go on something. And sorry for any "bad English" it ain't my "first" language and blame Grammarly.

For the record the only achievement I'm missing is "Completed the Jornal, Nature is fun" one soo yeah still trying to get that and if you can help then FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THE HUSKIES PLEASE HELP ME ! THIS ACHIEVEMENT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY !

Before reading this guide take in mind that the game is better experienced without any help whatsoever. That said if you are as frustrated as I am to get all the achievements, then this might help you maybe.

Some Achivements:
So on to the guide:
Most of these are either random chance, trial and error, or maybe I did do something right.

[Dog Stories]
In terms of dog stories the best I can tell is that once you have made one successful run put the dog you want to finish the story as the leader and when you have to choose direction let the dog choose for you, it worked for me might be random I dunno.

[Flying Bunny]
When encountering the lone bunny just wait to use it as bait and see what happens. An eagle will take it away to bunny heaven. Not sure if you have to encounter an eagle first but you might have to.

[Raw meat]
I didn't notice before but you can eat raw meat. Go ahead try it it's not good for you.



[Scratching tree]
This one might be a bit tedious but when encountering the baby bear just keep trying to wait and see what happens until the baby bear decides to scratch their butt on the tree. There are probably 3 or 4 scenarios that can occur when encountering them but on the bright side, you will also get a few journal notes.






[Rabies]
This one surprised me cause I apparently got it on my first run. When encountering the squirrel just wink back, again it may take a few tries but at some point, it will attack you and that's what you want.
The Journal
Now that the achievements are out of the way on to the journal entries I have acquired so far. Most of these I don't remember exactly what I did but I'll try to explain at least a few. See the bright side at least you can see what some of them are. I'll also leave a picture of my own personal "notes" I've made, see if you can make sense out of them. If there is a full journal out there PLEASE SEND A PICTURE TO ME I'M DESPERATE.













[Petting elk]
When encountering an Elk try to see if they get closer to you and then reach out. This might require a lot of trial and error. Dunno if the dog team makes a difference but in my successful petting secession I had Gale, Fin, Noodle, Slayer and obviously Chomper.


[Frozen Deer]
When encountering the frozen deer just leave it alone and you'll get a note, easy.












[Caribou speak]
Might be an easy one since it's just trial and error but when encountering a Caribou and they get close I think just try to speak to it by "grunt" I might be wrong on this one I dunno.

[Caribou hunt fail]
When encountering a caribou and only having the option to hunt it or leave choose hunt and when shooting they will survive the first shot and then let the timer run out. A wolf will appear and try to take your kill.

[Owl and Skunk fight]
When encountering these two fighting just wait a see. Both of them can win the fight, again a lot of trial and error.

[Bears in the Forest]
When encountering bears in the forest just watch and see what happens. there's at least 3 encounters. One where they "Eskimo kiss", one where mama bear will attack you, I think, and the one I already mentioned.

[Bear home]
When finding a lonely shack/house just go inside of it. Multiply scenarios can occur but what you want is to find a bear in it and yes they will attack you. This one I have to give it to random chance.

On a final note
I believe that is all I can help you with I'm still trying to finish my own journal and it's starting to feel like I need to do a completely new run to get some more notes.I'll try to update it if I get something new. Feel free to leave a question I'll try to answer whatever I can. And if you can PLEASE HELP ME I WANT THAT DAMMED ACHIVEMENT!?

I just wanted to know the punishment if you get the "cold" effect. I've been struggling to find out what it is. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Pt 3 of Journal Entry Explanations (at least the ones I've seen):
-Wolf Stalking. "How close is that wolf?" When this triggers you only have one option other than to leave, and it's to try and find the wolf. Select that option and although you won't find the wolf, you'll get the entry.
-Attacked by a Wolf. "What do you smell?" Choose to follow your dogs and then when you see the dead caribou choose to move forward and "get it" at which point you will be attacked by a wolf, inflicting an injury.
-Fight off a Wolverine. "Feel free to stay over there." I believe you have to have Igloo on your team for this and have already seen her get hurt by the ox. Select the option to scare off the wolverine, which won't work for you but Igloo gets the wolverine to leave, earning you the entry.

Okay, I have more if anyone needs help but this is what I could type up for now. Hope this helped some of you! :)

Pt 2 of Journal Entry Explanations (at least the ones I've seen):
-Let's Not Talk About Bald Eagles. "Did you see that bald eagle?" Select to chase or hunt it, either work. Select to shoot it despite it potentially being illegal. This will get you the entry.
-Feed a Wolf. "Hey there little wolf friend... mush, mush!" I believe for this event to trigger you must have Barkley on your team, when the wolf attacks him select the option to throw food. This will get you the entry.
-Elk Shedding. "It looks like there's something out there" This one might be a little hard to distinguish as the words "something" and "out there" are used a LOT in these voice lines. However, if this voice line triggers and you have the options to hunt or check, select checking it out. When you see the elk, approach it at which point you get the entry.

Pt 1 of Journal Entry Explanations (at least the ones I've seen):
My format works like this; Name of journal entry or a summary of what the journal writes, the voice line that starts the event meaning it's how you tell if it's the event you're looking for or not, and then directions on how to get the entry.
-Wounded Caribou. "Whoa, it's a caribou!" Hunt the caribou and shoot it once. In this event the caribou will not go down in one shot and so choose to leave the event after having shoot it only once, keeping it alive. Later in the run you should encounter an event that starts with the line "What's that over there?" and you need to choose to check it out at which point you'll see the wounded caribou, earning you the entry.
-Talk Caribou. "Whoa, it's a caribou!" Choose to check out the caribou instead of hunting it. Then choose to try a caribou call at which point you need to select "grunt", this will earn you the entry.

I see in your journal that you're missing the note "sometimes you have to feed the wildlife", in case you're still wanting to know, you get that note by throwing food at the wold that attacks your sled

Are you still updating this? If so you should change the Caribou speak note, the grunt IS the answer. Also, I think if you moo you get the "I better get mooooving" note in the journal as a moose chases it off, I'm not entirely sure about if this is where the note is from though, just a thought.

Been doing so many runs with Fin, but each time something is missing, I never get an achievement, it just says that trust must be built on and outside of the trail, ech. I don't know what to do. Did the rest of the dogs.

@Alridder you have to shoot the deer, and there's a chance that it'll live and they will run off. Thats how u get it.

I managed to get the first owl note, you need to follow the owl when it talks about omens. Pick the good omens then watch the owl. The owl will spit out a pellet which then you'll need to examine. I often get bullets from this encounter

Would be willing to share my updated journal pages. I've filled out quite a good amount of it so far at 18 hours in and could also tell you how I got most of them.
