For some reason holding WASD or any direction for controller players (Maybe, but WASD for sure) and attempting to heavy attack in the air results in Chai immediately performing a Hammer-On sending you straight to floor leaving you wondering if you messed up your inputs. You didn't - not sure why this is a mechanic.

It can be disabled in the options, or just don't press WASD in the air. Wish that was more obvious. Have fun!

i thought it was because the air combo timing was strict because air combos do hella damage, i can still hold w when doing air combos idk why

its not that questionable. the stick is only necessary to aim the first hit then it allows you to do 2 different actions with 1 button.

Oh thank god it's not just me, thank you for explaining this questionable mechanic, but at least it can be turned off!

they probably do this to make it so that players have more flexibility when doing an air combo. for example, let's say the enemy you're comboing in the air has died before your combo ends. it may be useful to perform hammer-on this way to quickly get back on the ground and start up a new combo, as well as damaging any enemies beneath you. this is just one example but i think it makes a good point for this to be in the game
