In this guide I will explain how to add custom Chapter[Map] in New Game Chapter Selection
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That will make map loading better and faster than using console and typing "map x".

|What chapter.сfg is?
chapter.сfg - this is a file that loads the "map" command when you select a chapter of the game and, accordingly, for the appearance of the chapter itself when you click New Game
|The path to the folder containing the files
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\cfg
|Creating new chapter.сfg
  • Create new .txt file in hl2\cfg folder.



  • Open the file and type
    map <MAP NAME>
    [You can also add some commands like give weapon_]

    [Path to maps folder
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\maps]


  • Save changes and rename file to chapter15.сfg

|Changing Title
|How to change "hl2_Chapter_Title" to normal Name?


  • Open hl2_english.tхt.



    |Path to hl2_english.tхt
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\resource\hl2_english.txt


  • After the line
    "HL2_Chapter14_Title" "CREDITS"
    Holding shift + enter make new line with text
    "HL2_Chapter15_Title" "MAP NAME"

@weedshot if you talk about the picture - you need to try this https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Adding_chapters_to_your_mod
yes, it have a bit other theme, but has needed info.
If you talking about textures - you have no content or downloaded map for wrong game.

@ThisArisGuy I just found some .res files about newgamechapter and menu, but its just size parameters, i think we cant change the picture.

@ThisArisGuy I knew someone will ask me.. But i just cant find anything that changes the picture, but Today ill check, maybe i just missed something in files
