Introduction

So you just got your fresh BIT.TRIP.FLUX copy out of your library. You've removed the dust and you've found out that it doesn't work. Gosh! What now?

With this guide, I will teach you how to make it working on Linux and on Steam Deck! (Steam Deck users please confirm).

Steps

0. Enable Proton for this game. It is mandatory!
1. Install this game from your library, but don't run yet!

2. Go to your game's folder and delete "dep" folder. Usually on linux should be in

~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/bit_trip_flux

3. Launch the game, it should give an error.

4. Give this command from Terminal:

WINEPREFIX=/path/to/steam/steamapps/compatdata/205090/pfx winetricks d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43

Instead of

/path/to/steam

you need to put your Steam client/library path.

By default: WINEPREFIX=/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/205090/pfx winetricks d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43

One last thing

Unfortunately, this game has been removed from the stores because of a never fixed bug.

thank you so so much!!! i was worried linux bit.trip was never going to work at this rate. i'd imagine this functions all the same for the rest of the games as long as the commands are executed on their respective directories, given all of the errors i have received have all been generic "failed to compile vertex shader" errors.
