In Fear & Hunger 2 (and the first one, for that matter) there's a massive amount of trial & error and the intro takes quite a bit of real time. So you play the intro, get to a place, die to some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or because of your own stupid mistake or the game crash, restart, repeat the cycle. You can't save after the intro because it uses precious in-game time (unless you find a completely random book on some bookcase or use the special mark on the specific occult circle), and the first morning time slot in the story of the game is very important. Which means that you can't save by sleeping until good ways into the game, or else you'll miss out on a lot. Another problem is that the expansive skill tree is also accessed by sleeping (unless there's another way I'm not aware of). Want to use it? Sorry, now some of the characters are dead, too bad.

Since people asked, here's the same mod but for original Fear & Hunger. Free Book of Enlightenment can be found at the entrance of the dungeon, on the guestbook table where you usually obtain the Book of Fears. Should work for all the difficulties.
