Try the link I posted below, that is a mod which changes ALL metal, not only weapons, if some models in the mod are re-used, at least those will work; that could be many or few.
Historical units reskin adds a whole load of new textures for his models from which he replaces the models into his new variants.

This mod only changes weapons/shields, and looks better I think.
I could process the other mods, with the same code, to make them more shiny, but then I had to have permission from the authors.
@Phazer Well aware of that, but Historical reskin changes a lot of models. So I am not sure if they use your textures
If you want the "SHINY meta mod" textures to load instead of whatever else,
just move the load order of the mods
then they will "override" textures with the same paths.
That is also how the actual mode works, it override the vanilla textures,
