This Works for AMD Cards and NVIDIA Cards!

For games that use SDK versions before 2.7.1 the PhysX Legacy Installer must also be installed. These are games that were released around the end of 2007 or earlier. (AGEIA titles) Examples of these games include CellFactor, Clive baker’s Jerich, Gears of War, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Switchball and Velvet Assassin.

That means, the Game don't work with the actual PhysX Driver.
But NVIDIA created an Special PhysX driver extension.
So you don't need to patch to an earlier Version of PhysX


Step 1: Install the latest Driver of PhysX
Latest PhysX Driver Download[www.nvidia.com]

Step 2: Install the latest Legacy Driver of PhysX
Latest Legacy Driver for PhysX[www.nvidia.com]

That should Fix the Error with PhysX and the Ageia Engine.

Worked for my Win 8.1 Pro 64 Bit

The Problem why you get no Signal or Resolution Problems is the Refresh Rate of your Monitor.
to set the refresh rate lower or higher you need to do following things.

Step 1: Go to Control Panel (in Windows Start Menu under the Option "This PC")

Step 2: Now go to Display Settings

Step 3: Advanced Settings

Step 4: and as last the "Monitor" Option



Set the Refresh Rate (ex.60 hertz)

For me i changed the Properties of the "replay.exe"
The Game works better if you set the Compatibility to Windows 7
and Start it as Admin.



Path for replay.exe (if you installed it on the default location)
C:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Velvet Assassin

The Problem of this is, Steam inject the Overlay in the Process if you press "Start"
and Velvet Assassin use an own Launcher to change Graphic Details and and and..
That means the Steam Overlay will injected in the Launcher.
To Fix that Crap you need to do:

Step 1: Open the Directory of the Game
(Should be C:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Velvet Assassin)

Step 2: Change the Name of the "launcher.exe" to anything what you want.
(ex: config.exe)

Step 3: and now change the Name of the "replay.exe" to "launcher.exe)

Thats it, you should see your Overlay now. :)

FPS Drops

Step 1: Open your Graphic Settings of NVIDIA Control Panel or ATI Catalyst.

Step 2: Now go to 3D Settings and add own graphic settings.

Step 3: Disable VSync and if possible Change the Multi Display to Single Display



This should fix the Performance.


other possible Fix for FPS

Step 1: go to the Properties in Steam on Velvet Assassin (right click)

Step 2: on the Start Options add the Command "-str" but without the Quotes.

You should find it in the Options ingame

and change from Mise and Keyboard to Controller
