ok, so by defuault half life is a very ♥♥♥♥ bad game with bad graphics and terrible so we need to tweak it. first go into settings and turn off hd content (bad and terrible) second if you're on a widescreen monitor you'll need to first set the display mode to widescreen, dont hit apply or ok, then set the resoltion to what you want. also, if you're on a high resolution monitor (over like 1080p or so) then you'll need to download a mod to fix the hud because it will be very small tiny haha, the mod i recommend iis here: https://gamebanana.com/mods/24741

go to the game install folder and make a folder NEXT tO the "valve" folder called valve_addon and go to the file you downloaded, extract it, and go to "Half-Life" then choose the appropriate crosshair folder, either 1080p or 4k, there should be a "sprites" folder inside. drag this into the "valve_addon" folder. the file path should look like this: [wherever the gam is install]\steamapps\common\Half-Life\valve_addon\sprites\a ♥♥♥♥ ton of spr and text files

this is optional, by default half-life uses vert- widescreen implementation (the game will basically just crop the screen to fill a widescreen monitor) so you'll need to fix that

when in the game, press ~, it's next to 1 and under esc generally, a console will open up, type fov 106 into that i think it was this is optional, by defaul
